This is a precise replica of an Irish pub with dark panelling, and Guinness on tap. It is away from the downtown area, and the prices for dinner are a little more reasonable than the restaurants right in Galena. Our dinners were beautifully prepared, served well and hot. The dining room was quiet and service was fine. I'd consider staying... More

Very noisy restaurant, but i guess it is a pub, maybe they are loud??? I, however, do not like to yell over dinner, so we sat as far away as we could from the entertainer playing that night, but that didn't help much. At least we had a nice view out the back windows. Ask to sit there. Food was... More

Very nice selection of Irish and US draught beers. While not an Irish dish the steaks were excellent. Good service from our waitress - Joy.

We stopped in for drinks as it was within walking distance of the hotel we were staying at. The drinks were pricey, but the atmosphere was classic Irish pub. The bartender was friendly, and service was top-notch. Both nights they had an Irish singer that did both classic Irish songs, plus classic American songs, and was very enjoyable. We would... More

We have eaten here quite a few times and it never disappoints. The Irish dancing and live music is always great and the staff is very friendly. We will always keep coming back!

A great atmosphere and yummy food. A great experience all around. Came to Frank O'Dowd's when we visited Galena last year, knew we had to get there this year also. They did not disappoint. Will definitely be on the places to eat list when we come back again.

We ate dinner here on a Thursday evening. Unfortunately, no Irish dancers or singer/entertainment on this evening . . . only on Fridays and Saturdays. I had the Fish and Chips . . it was good. My wife had the Paddy Melt . . .it was good, too. Great atmosphere. It's what you expect an Irish Pub to look like.

To be honest, I'm not a big 'variety freak'. When I find something I really like, that's what I order. Well, we've been to Galena before, and have a few things that we like to repeat. But we'd never been to Frank O'Dowd's before. I ordered the Shepherd's pie, my wife ordered the fish and chips. The Shepherd's pie was... More

My husband and I have been to many Irish pub type restaurents. We had planned on having dinner but the meals seemed way over priced for pub food ($15 for fish and chips) so we ended just having drinks $6.50 for a pint of guinness and I had a red witch, which was good. The service wasn't that great but... More
