Fun and good food!

We stayed in the hotel by the Pub and it was the best food and service while we were there. We went there 2 nights rather than back in to town for dinner. Their whiskey/ scotch selection was great! The food isn't the best I've had, but they certainly do some things very well. Additionally the... read more

Since ; We been married enjoyed O'Dowd's in Oct. as a late anniversary celebration. We had pleasure watching Irish dancers grow into young adults. Hope to continue our tradition of enjoy food, music, good times, wonderful atmosphere, and many delicious drinks. Last time we tried Red Witch was surprisingly very good. We drove out to Galena earlier that day, checked into our cabin and headed out for a nice dinner. On the drive in we had noticed a newer looking Irish hotel and attached restaurant that appeared to be an Irish pub. We decided it was simple and had some character and would be fun. We were right. Although the place... More

Charming atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent Shepard's Pie and Corned Beef. Enjoyed the cheese board appetizer, as well.

We were in Galena for a family gathering and found Frank O'Dowd's Irish Pub as an excellent place for the 8 of us to have dinner on Friday night. We were able to be seated soon after arrival. We had plenty of room. The menu options were numerous. Our server was very helpful and accommodating to our many requests. She... More

Very nice restaurant attached to an Irish boutique hotel. We had their shepherd's pie for dinner which was just the right size portion if you aren't a big eater. They also have some interesting cocktails and a nice selection of Irish whiskey and single malt scotches.

We spent the night here at the IRISH Cottage and stopped in for a light dinner and drinks. We split the corned beef sandwich & fries(our waiter actually split the meal onto 2 plates for us instead of just bringing an extra plate). We also ordered a cheese tray appetizer. Everything was very Good.....Our server was Great! I wish we... More

The food was good but a limited menu . It's a bit out of the way so you need a car to get there. We enjoyed the Irish dancing.

It has taken us four trips to Galena (an absolute gem itself) in nine years to finally venture into Frank O'Dowd's Irish Pub. It is off the beaten path in what looks like a glorified strip mall. Please don't wait that long! Make it your first meal in Galena. It will not disappoint! We went on a Saturday night because... More

The menu was very limited. The service was good. My burger was very dry. My husbands fish and chips was pretty good.
