Good Dinner Place

This restaurant had very good food. We started with the fried cheese curds. I ordered the shepard's pie, which was excellent. My husband ordered a patty melt, and enjoyed it as well. The restaurant was supposed to have irish dancers at 6:30. They did not start until a little bit after 7:00, which... read more

Great food and beer selections. Get a seat by the window to overlook the "Fairy Garden"! It is a beautiful rock garden amphitheater type area with a hidden short hiking trail for before/after your dinner. Great place for couples.

Over the fourth of July weekend four of my friends and myself visited Galena and ate at several of the restaurants but this one I enjoyed the most. I had the Shepherds Pie and it was delicious.

We were pleasantly surprised when we had dinner there on a Sunday night. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the reuben.. The plates were delivered in a timely fashion and were very hot. The meals were both very tasty and too much for us to finish. Try the breaded pickles beforehand. They are to die for!... More

Enjoyed the atmosphere. Pretty authentic drinks. The food was quite good. They had 2 guys doing Irish music and a little comedy on Friday and Saturday night. They were great--best part of the evening.

While staying at the Irish Cottage Boutique, we ate at their restaurant. My husband was pleased with his Swiss Mushroom Burger and my Reuben was fantastic. Service was fine. Our waitress was busy but she did a good job of taking care of us and those around us.

Was looking forward to experiencing this place, but was very disappointed with the service. We went for dinner and it took awhile for anyone to notice we were there. It appears that they were short staffed as the waitress seemed to be the only one there. She was gone for long periods of time and the food took about 40... More

We always come to Frank O'Dowd's when visiting Galena. It has a great Irish Pub atmosphere. The food and service are really good. Since we stay at the Irish Cottage Hotel it is nice to relax at the pub in the evening.

We loved Frank O'Dowds. We stayed in the Irish Cottage Hotel and received a complimentary breakfast there which was delicious. Each morning you get a different meal quiche or eggs and crepe, or a fancy French toast. But our favorite part of this restaurant was Joy. We went there a few times for lunch and after dinner drinks. I would... More

We literally found this Pub on a Road trip to Dubuque via Trip Advisor. Food was good including Shepard's Pie , Ruben & Patty Melt. Entire list of Beer to choose from one or two. Lots of seating and a scenic vista on the rear of the restaurant . We recomend
