Nice lunch spot on main street

My wife and I enjoyed a late lunch at the Golden Hen. The air conditioning was sure working. On a hot day it's got to be a great oasis. Lunch was solid and moderately priced, given their prime location. Iced tea was brewed fresh and refreshing. One other surprise- no "Galena Pretentiousness... read more

Centrally located on Main Street in Galena, IL, this little place serves a big breakfast. Nice portions, courteous servers, bottomless coffee! The egg dishes were great. Nice fruit and toast portions on the side. Good prices.

This is more of a "local diner" venue. The service was below average, and the waitress did not deliver the food we had ordered or as described on the menu. We were very hungry, so it was not a major disaster. Would, perhaps, try breakfast there as breakfast is probably more in their sweet-spot.

Ordered the BLT. My friend had more bacon on her eggs benedict than what was on the sandwich. It was OK. Nothing really spectacular.

Good food and plenty of it! Our sandwiches came with a cup of soup, fries and slaw. The restaurant was very clean . I would go there again!

Great start to a fun day. Family friendly, yummy food, accommodating staff. They make their own blintzes. They let me substitute the hash browns for a blintz.

I give it a 3 for cleanliness. We stopped for lunch. Husband had a broiled chicken sandwich of some sort (said it was "Okay"), I had a patty melt - stale bread - questionable meat patty. Told DH it tasted like I had put too many breadcrumbs in the meatloaf at home. Not like a hamburger at all. Couldn't taste... More

The place was nice and the food was okay. My son had the french toast which was huge and good. No wow factor just decent food.
