I will not belabor my husband's experience as (I hope) he has submitted his own review, but it was the worst food we've had in years. I will comment though, on the hilarious piece of--what?--Texas toast?--that was placed on his $27 frozen scallop dinner to occupy some space on the plate. My dinner was simpler. My veggie burger was described... More

Good burger place. Nice daily specials also. Also has a nice dessert selection. Service is very attentive. Very intimate setting. Highly recommended.

We lunched at this restaurant and really were impressed with the food .Everything is like "home cooked goodness" .Portions are larger than on finds at other galena restaurants. Great to find a restaurant away from the hustle and bustle of main street Galena .A real restaurant with attentive servers not just another burger joint which seams to be the trend... More

My wife and I wanted a light dinner on a cold November evening when nearly nobody was downtown. We saw this restaurant which said they were not open on Sundays (+) and that they did not charge more for split plates (+). At 8:00 we were the only customers (+). The place was clean, and the women there friendly. We... More

Food was very nice served promptly. Sisters were very friendly, decor little sparse. On the second floor from Main street but can come in on the upper side and not have to climb the stairs

Four of us stopped here for supper on a Friday evening. We had checked out their Entrée Menu downstairs and decided to try it - I had my taste buds set for the 1/2 rack of Ribs. The Main dining area was smallish, but we got seated right away. Our order was taken promptly and the service was great! The... More

I ordered the vegtable burger with sweet potato fries. Both were obviously packaged frozen food while I expected fresh made. The burger was hard and tasteless and the fries were also lacking in flavor. To their credit my husband ordered a veggie pita which did have fresh veggies and the staff was great.

If I were going to Galena and was limited to one restaurant, it would be the Market House. This is home cooking at it's best. The restaurant is ran by a family of friendly siblings who treat you right. The brother cooks, the sisters serve and part of the profit from every meal goes to charity. Famous for their Crab... Restaurant is tucked in above street level - our GPS had difficulty locating, so we finally just got out and walked to find it (the best way, IMHO). My husband had a burger, sweet potato fries, and salad, and I tried the chicken puffed pastry with a salad. Both meals were very tasty. Our waitress was friendly and extremely efficient.... More

I had their shrimp louise melt which was suppose to be their specialty. It was dry until I added some ranch dressing and the cheese was not melted. My husband had the flank steak and said it was very tender and cooked perfectly.
