I was happy with their food. Steak tacos were tasty as we're their chips. Salsa was watery and needs a kick. Buffet is good and very reasonable at $11 for prime rib and more. Owner and chef Juan Dorantes makes this restaurant a must eat place. He is so nice, kid friendly and accommodating. I'll eat here any time.

I'd like to start this review by saying that I am not a hard-to-please customer or even one to complain much about a restaurant's food or service, but my experience at Ayalas was so bad that I have to say something. This is the first time that I have EVER sent back an entree and walked out of the restaurant,... More

We visited Galena this past weekend, (Saturday, October 12, 2013). We were a bit skeptical about going into a place where there were no other cutomers for lunch but the advertising board outside Ayalas listed great Mexican food and that was exactly what we wanted. The host was very nice when bringing us to our table, explaining they had a... More

Trying something new and different in Galena could not be more pleasant than at Ayalas. From the inexpensive quality beer, huge wine selection and excellent menu items of Mexican and Italian flavor, we were surprised by superb quality of food and extraordinary service. Folks need to give this hidden secret a chance in Galena. General Bob

Visited Ayalas for our anniversary and was charmed by the attention and ambiance. The owner came out to talk to us personally and the drinks and entrees were well prepared. My husband insisted it was the best ceviche he's ever tasted. This is an elegant restaurant that's a step above the typical Mexican eatery.

Warmly greeted by waitstaff. Informed of specials for the night and what was not available on regular menu due to the extremely busy holiday weekend. Served us delicious sangria to start our dining experience. Salads with house dressing and homemade rolls...so good! for entree i Ordered pork shoulder with chipotle and wife ordered salmon with peach salsa. Both meals were... More

The owner / chef greeted us and was beyond welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere and the guacamole were fantastic. However, our meals were just average and we wished they had been as good as the setting.

We ate here with our teenage son. The food was very good -- the Mexican dishes had great authentic flavor, and the salmon was excellent. The prices were a little on the expensive side, though. And we were disappointed to find that there were no chicken tacos offered on the menu...

So what do you do? You really like the owner, the chef, and the wait staff but the food is bland. My husband had Italian and I had spanish. I say spanish because it is more from south Mexico so there isn't your typical seasoning. My rib eye needed to be seared but was rubbery and over cooked. The rice... More

. As local Galenaeans we should have been at Ayalas long ago. Maybe we thought it was just some upgrade taco bar - WRONG!! This is a first class restaurant. The new menu (hope it gets listed soon on their website) is outstanding. The fish selections (3 out of 4 of us ordered fish) were creative. Substitutions were allowed, spices... More
