Went to Galena from a Sunday to a Wednesday and a lot of the restaurants on Main St. were closed during the week so my husband and I decided to try out Ayalas. We went with friends on New Years Eve. They have a new location on Diagonal Street. Service was good with large portions. A little pricey, but the restaurant was clean and everyone was very friendly.

It was yum!!! Tacos for 3 + appetizers and horchatas under $25. The food was fresh, the atmosphere was clean. The service was nothing to complain about-- very pleasant. The chef even came out to see how everything was-- yummy place; we'd definitely return and recommend.

We recently held our company Christmas party at Ayalas' in Galena IL. The Salmon was superb! Many of the folks had the Mexican fares, and they were thrilled as well. Guacamole was some of the best around. Add pork, and it was super delicious. Service was great and nice atmosphere as well! Would recommend this to anyone!

We had dinner here for the wedding we were in town for. The dinner was excellent, they offered many different choices and had great service. I left my sunglasses there and was able to pick them up the next day, even though they weren't open yet. Would recommend to friends and family.

We just had margaritas and chips with guacamole, but both were very good. Bartender was extremely welcoming and attentive. Chef came out to say hello. Will definitely go back for a meal next time

We had lunch in here on the 4th of July. It was not busy at all. Another couple were half way through their meal when we arrived. The prices on the food, I felt were just a little more than I wanted to spend. My husband and I shared chicken fajitas and ordered chips and quacamole and salsa (10.99). The... More

Coming from Chicago, we're more used to light Mexican, not so heavy on the lard/fat. I think the steak is probably better. We loved the owner, who is a wonderful man and they had live music and a dance floor! We'll try it again ...

I was happy with their food. Steak tacos were tasty as we're their chips. Salsa was watery and needs a kick. Buffet is good and very reasonable at $11 for prime rib and more. Owner and chef Juan Dorantes makes this restaurant a must eat place. He is so nice, kid friendly and accommodating. I'll eat here any time.

I'd like to start this review by saying that I am not a hard-to-please customer or even one to complain much about a restaurant's food or service, but my experience at Ayalas was so bad that I have to say something. This is the first time that I have EVER sent back an entree and walked out of the restaurant,... More
