Good Reliable Lunch in Galena

I've been to Green Street Tavern about four times since moving to Galena. I have to say that I've always been pleased with the food, the service and the value. In my last visit with a couple of friends, they were very busy at lunch on a weekday, but the service was fast, efficient and seamless. I... read more

The pulled pork was very good. The service was average. It took quite awhile to get the check to leave. The location is excellent and very convenient for a day of shopping.

Read good reviews but when there service must have been having a bad day. We had to get our own drinks after waiting about 20 minutes for a waitress. Food was good but one person didn't their order at all and wasn't asked by the staff before they left. Everyone else items were set down and the staff left in... More

Went in for the blue cheese soup, and I'm glad I did. It was oh so good! Had the turkey melt and homemade chips also. Perfect lunch portion.

We like to visit Galena every year or so. And we like to stay at the Desoto House, having been around since 1855, it has hosted, in addition to Abraham Lincoln, Stephen Douglas and Ulysses S. Grant , such traveling performers from back in the day as General and Mrs. Tom Thumb, Duprey and Green’s Minstrels, and American aeronaut, Professor... More

Food was great, but the service was not great. Our server was not very good about checking on us. We waited over a half hour for our food and was only told about a wait 20 minutes or so into our wait. Had to ask about our food again. My husband sat with an empty drink and no server checking... Decor was great, lots of history. Food was ok but not great. Service was good and prices average. Lots of other places to eat besides this one. Menu choices were fairly limited.

Went with wife for lunch. I had shrimp taco and wife had Cuban pork sandwich. Many great selections on menu. Eat in a historic Desoto Hotel.

Love the large menu and have never had a bad meal. Comfortable, clean atmosphere and friendly service and is centrally located on Main Street so quick and easy to get to. Had the chicken quesadilla appetizer as a meal, tasted very good had leftovers. On another visit had the grilled chicken sandwich, the red pepper aioli was a tasty change... More
