Lovely, intimate setting in an historic building. The food was excellent, but the service a bit slow. If time was not an issue it would be perfect.

I stay at The Homestead Hotel, about three times/year, during visits to an ill relative. Firstly, I cannot say enough wonderful things about this very understated, comfortable, yet academically oriented (next to Northwestern University) large B and B. The Quince, located in the hotel, is one of my favorites! I have traveled all over the world and never have I... More

I thoroughly enjoyed Quince. It was a Tuesday evening and the dining room was quiet. The service was great. Wait staff were attentive and cordial. The food was marvelous. I would definitely return for any special occasion. The only reason I wouldn't give this restaurant 5 stars is because it is located in a building that has short-term apartments. Someone... More

Disappointed in our third (and I suspect last) visit to Quince last evening. Service was more stilted than I like. Very regimented in their seating and the like. Was served a corked glass of wine, and while that was corrected, it should not have happened. Lastly, I indicated when making the reservation that we would be celebrating my wife's birthday... More

Great food, attentive service without b being overbearing, a wine list second to none and very conversation friendly.

Setting was ideal for a "business" type dinner. I had the wild boar --- a generous serving --- with unusual tasty accompaniments. The potato soup was excellent and again unusual. They obviously take great pride in presentation. Service was fine.

Located in the Homestead, a residential venerable hotel on a quiet street, Quince occupies a space long associated with fine dining. The atmosphere is one of intimate understated elegance, and the food dishes are imaginative and good to excellent. The service, however, is not up to standard. Our waiter did not offer the Chefs Tasting Menu, did not know anything... More

The soup, lobster, foie gras and salad were all delicious appetizers. Of the entrees, the mushroom ravioli was the best. The duck and trout entrees were good but did not stand out. I usually like formal service but this was pretentious and unfriendly without being attentive. We had to ask for rolls, our dishes were not removed quickly and the... More

When we ordered the octopus appetizer to share, the waiter implied that it might be too small to share. He had it only partially right: the portion was not enough for even one person! The same was true of my overcooked barramundi, though I don't know how any cook could NOT overcook such a tiny piece. But don't worry about... More
