Great food, attentive service without b being overbearing, a wine list second to none and very conversation friendly.
Setting was ideal for a "business" type dinner. I had the wild boar --- a generous serving --- with unusual tasty accompaniments. The potato soup was excellent and again unusual. They obviously take great pride in presentation. Service was fine.
Located in the Homestead, a residential venerable hotel on a quiet street, Quince occupies a space long associated with fine dining. The atmosphere is one of intimate understated elegance, and the food dishes are imaginative and good to excellent. The service, however, is not up to standard. Our waiter did not offer the Chefs Tasting Menu, did not know anything... More
The soup, lobster, foie gras and salad were all delicious appetizers. Of the entrees, the mushroom ravioli was the best. The duck and trout entrees were good but did not stand out. I usually like formal service but this was pretentious and unfriendly without being attentive. We had to ask for rolls, our dishes were not removed quickly and the... More
When we ordered the octopus appetizer to share, the waiter implied that it might be too small to share. He had it only partially right: the portion was not enough for even one person! Not sure about the negative reviews especially ones having to do with small portions. I thought the portions were generous given the type and caliber of this restaurant. The negative reviewers must not have ever eaten at a top tier restaurant before. What a great meal. Went for wedding anniversary. The service was great. The dishes were perfectly prepared and... More
I was visiting my niece at Northwestern and stayed at the Homestead, adjacent to the restuarant. So location was perfect. Food was excellent. Scallops succulent, mushoom ravioli had a delightful earthy, savory flavor. Presentation was artful. Portions were just right, satifying without encouraging us to overeat. Meyer lemon cheesecake was pleasing but not very lemony. White chocolate mousse very tasty.... More
Celebrated a birthday dinner at Quince and found the service and the cuisine to be outstanding. Truly a wonderful local spot in Evanston. Easy parking and a lovely decor round out the experience.
What a great menu--original, fun, exciting. And, what great food! We had a fantastic evening and meal. The service is outstanding, the location in Evanston (great city), and the setting were all positive. Fortunately, we are a foodie family, so we tried different choices for each course and shared and it was ALL wonderful. The wine list was also nice... More
