Excellent food and service makes for enjoyable meal

The Stained Glass is a destination restaurant in my opinion. The service is top notch. When asked, the staff offers spot on advice about the menu and wines. The food tastes as good as its presentation.

We went last night for a casual dinner with friends. The menu was fresh, flavorful and innovative. The foie gras BLT is a must, the best appetizer I've had in a while. We ended up sharing appetizers and the fillet special with organic mushrooms. The wine list was diverse and comprehensive. We enjoyed some nice old world wines, which are... More

This beautiful bistro always wows us. Its creative menu is outstanding and in our opinion one of the midwest's best. Every dish we've ever ordered here makes it a tough choice on our next visit to order it again or try something else we know will be delicious. Kudos to the chef and staff!

Went there on July 10 with a group of six friends after a long day of meetings. The food was gorgeous. Everyone ordered something different so we all got to see beautifully plated food. I was eating light that night so I had the Bibb lettuce salad and the Lobster bisque. Both were excellent! It took me awhile to figure... More

The Stained Glass has been one of my favorite restaurants for special occasions: special celebrations, out-of-town family and guests, birthdays, etc. The service is excellent, reservations are honored on time, the choice of wines never disappoints, and the menu includes some unique entrees.

My sister and I were looking for farm to table/organic restaurant options in evanston area and came across The Stained Glass. We shared deviled eggs with smoked salmon and salmon caviar which was excellent. While the steak was not 100% grass fed, there were organic/farm to table options. I highly recommend their scottish salmon entree. Too full to even try... More

Great service and food. The crab cakes were awesome. Good opportunities for vegans and vegetarians. Local and seasonal produce. Very cozy restaurant, and opportunities for private seating for larger groups.

Food fresh and interesting without being too esoteric. Wait staff attentive and restaurant vibe relaxing. Only comment would be to add actual ganache to their chocolate ganache cake. Filling was more like mousse and not ganache. But overall, we're coming back!

The portions are like everywhere in Chicago oversized. But the food is more sensitively prepared than I've seen at most Chicago restaurants. And the wine sections and desserts are notable.

Not as high end cooking as Michael's in Winnetka but unlike at Michael's I fell good after eating there and I wanted to go back. It is the best restaurant to take a date or invite friends in this part of the city. The food is impecable. The wine list is great. Wish they were open for lunch.
