We had heard of The Stained Glass for a while but hadn't had occasion to try it until last evening. It was really good. My husband said it was worth the trip just for the desserts, but I would say the same for the appetizers. We shared the escargots, the crab cake (my personal favorite) and the deviled eggs. We... We dined here for a special evening and absolutely loved it. We've been to many of the nicer restaurants in Evanston and on the North Shore, but this one is one that we seem to always overlook (perhaps because it's so close), but we will not be overlooking it anymore! Great food, attentive service, lovely ambiance.

We had not been to Stained Glass for several years. Not clear why, but we'll be back again very soon. We had two very nice flights of wine to accompany our meal, based on our server's recommendation. They both were well suited for us and what we ate. My wife started with a foie gras "sandwich". She was unsure of... More

I was not aware of the Stained Glass - I'm glad I found it and will return. I chose the lamb - that dish was excellent. A bit too much going on on the plate (could drop the basil pesto) but the meat was outstanding. Nice and complete wine list. Expensive.

This is a quite nice place to eat in Evanston for an unrushed and civilized meal. The service is attentive and for a place striving to be "continental" the portions are quite large by today's standards. The clientele consists of mostly people from nearby Northwestern, and as usual academics are a pretty discriminating crowd. Escargots were a plentiful portion atop... More

The staff at the restaurant were excellent and so professional in dealing with a small business dinner I recently hosted. From the initial reservation, to helping select wine, to the service that night, they made the evening go smoothly for me and my guests - several foodie's among them were quite pleased, and promised to visit for a social evening!

The Stained Glass has a nice space and elegant design. The food, though, does not stand to the expected standard. The starter, baked artichoke with mushrooms and gorgonzola cheese for two, was impossible to eat. We were sure this will be stuffed artichoke hearts; instead we got a huge artichoke head creamed with a huge amount of cheese (that, by... More

We went here with another couple to celebrate two birthdays. We picked The Stained a Glass based on a recommendation that we got from someone when we were dining in another restaurant. We were seated on time, which is a big plus. We started with a wine flight. The wine list was extensive and had wines from all regions and... More

I recently attended a dinner business meeting at The Stained Glass. The warehouse-style dining space provided plenty of room for mingling prior to the sit-down dinner. With approximately 50 people attending plus a piano player for added ambiance, the venue and acoustics were perfect for active dialogue and plenty of room to walk around. The "finger foods" were to-die for.... More

I took my wife and parents to The Stained Glass. We all had terrific dinners (the Barramundi, in particular, was outstanding), enjoyed the diverse wine choices and indulged in unique and memorable desserts (I'd recommend trying the donuts). The restaurant was crowded but reservations were relatively easy to get on short notice. It's not cheap but is a very strong... More
