Great brunches-will go back again!

Had a great eggs Benedict on a cornbread crouton with creole hollandaise. Husband had eggs stardom, and friends had the fried chicken plate and a combo that they were pleased with. Fun atmosphere, a bit on the small side. Good prices and tasty food!

I'm really not familiar with a lot of Southern cooking, so this was a real treat! Beignets & friend green tomatoes started us off....wow! Both of these were firsts for me. The egg Sardou was amazing; "Poached Eggs atop our famous Fried Green Tomatoes with Creamed Spinach, Artichoke Hollandaise, and Cornbread Croutons. Served with Cajun Potatoes and Cheese Grits" Add... I had gone to Dixie Kitchen several times telling the wait staff I have a gluten allergy. No problem. On my last visit I was informed that all the authentic dishes are not gluten free. They evidently use wheat flour in their sauces. Big disappointment. I would never have gone back I ordered a salad and it was stripped down... More

Excellent Cajun and Creole dishes. Great eclectic atmosphere, attentive service, bigger portions than most humans can consume but, hey, what's not to like about leftover gumbo???

Food was excellent - we had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table. Those that arrived after us had a longer wait. But well worth it. Scrambled Tacos and the Jambalaya Omelet were our meal choices. Both were very tasty!

Driving to Chicago, we checked out trip advisor to find a lunch place to set our GPS to on a side trip to Evanston. That place ended up being closed. We asked for a pizza place and passed Dixie kitchen along the way. We stopped and checked it out. Decor: old general store ad signs on the walls and fishing... More

This restaurant has always been a favorite destination for our family when we come to visit our daughter at Northwestern. I was therefore disappointed at the response I received when I called to try to arrange for a private dinner for my daughter's graduation. I explained that I wanted to have a graduation dinner for 30-40 people. I was told... More

I just love it when you go in an eatery and people treat you good. The greens were fantastic which opened my palate to be ready for the best southern made meal in town. Excellent place to relax or meet with friends or even have a business lunch. Great food in a great community. This is a take it easy... More

Checkered tablecloths, johnny cakes, and great beignets....these all add to the Southern hospitality of Dixie Kitchen. Very friendly staff keep the crowded diners satisfied. Foods for the spicy foodies as well as the more tame.

I've visited Dixie Kitchen several times and it never disappoints. Before you get there, you need to have an attitude of patience, knowing that it will be worth the wait. The place is small and does not take reservations. The entrance is also small, so on a recent Saturday night we were squeezed in there for a half-hour before we... More
