From the Binets to Southern style coffee it spot on. Service is good and atmospher is like their man Bait Shop old. Portions are generous and menu items are right from Bourbon Street.

Our daughter recently moved to Evanston and we have been exploring the restaurants. We like Cajun food, so this place looked interesting. All our dishes were mediocre. Nothing really stood out. We tried the beignets for dessert. They were awful, overcooked and greasy. So far we have not been to a restaurant in Evanston we would go back to for... More

Ordered the gumbo and it was very nice. A lot of shrimp and sausage. Large portions! Get the gumbo and plantain. The heat spice and sweetness goes well. Fried chicken was very good...crunchy, spicy and half of the chicken. Yum. Finally, staff were very friendly and attentive

When I originally moved from Chicago after 10 years to Evanston, I was bracing myself for a bit of a letdown in terms of the restaurant scene. While Chicago is still the clear winner, there are some standouts in Evanston that hold their own. A friend of mine (fellow Chicago native) recommended I checkout Dixie kitchen as it made him... I have been to this restaurant scores of times over the years and my, time has not been kind to Dixie Kitchen. I was part of a party of six for a Sunday Brunch. We were seated in a reasonable time and that's pretty much where any semblance of good service ended. After we all but trapped our server, we... More

The first time I went, the food was great so we returned to check out the dinner menu. The catfish is excellent and so is the sweet tea. Besides that, don't expect much. Honestly, they served me the worst macaroni and cheese I've ever had. It tasted nothing like cheese. I noticed the waitress even looked at is as she... More

My friend and I enjoyed the spicy gumbo. We've enjoyed the red beans in the past. The corn muffins that accompany are as great as always. The decor is fun. Reasonable prices.

Very good food and good service! Love the mini pancakes pre-meal! Fun atmosphere! This is a great place for couples as well as family! You may have to wait for a table but it's worth it. Parking's available on the street.

Had Dixie Kitchen recommended by a friend-- we were NOT disappointed! Service was fantastic even when it started to get VERY busy. Good coffee, and our server kept it coming! Not your standard menu, great 'Southern' dishes... and of course grits. Love the decor. We were quite very happy with the food!

We were there for breakfast, the beignets were awful. The rest of the meal was pretty standard fare. I would not return - at least for breakfast.
