This is a pretty high end sushi restaurant so the rolls and individual pieces are relatively expensive. However, the quality of the fish is very good, the service is always pretty good, and the menu items are unique and delicious every time.

I recently had a lovely dinner here with family. It's not too hard to find street parking nearby, and it's near the purple line, so never fear if you're coming from Chicago - the trek isn't too daunting! The restaurant has a classy but casual vibe, very zen. I had a glass of wine, and a seaweed salad, edamame to... More

We ate here in early March 2014 and had several of the deluxe rolls. They were delicious albeit somewhat pricey. We also had a tempura appetizer and it was some of the best tempura I've ever had. The varieties and combinations on the various rolls were a little unusual and that's why it only gets 4 stars instead of 5.... More

This place is DEFINITELY the best sushi restaurant in Evanston and in my opinion, one of the best sushi places in all of the Chicago-land area! Two of my favorite rolls are the Shiroi roll (which has garlic in it) and the scorpion roll (which is pretty spicy). They of course have many other excellent rolls to choose from as... More

This charming Japanese restaurant is a favorite of ours in Evanston. The food is immaculately presented, accurately described and always delicious. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive and it is a great venue for a group to share a convivial meal. The good selection for vegetarians is a bonus.

Very fresh sushi and a wide variety of rolls, many of them providing a unique twist on the classics. A bonus is the wide variety of sakes and a wait staff that provides expert advice on their different attributes.

Ate here one night for dinner as it was near our hotel (Best Western). Pretty good sushi rolls and sashimi. Not authentic Japanese though.

There is nothing worse than bad sushi and sashimi and this was not very good. The sashimi platter was overpriced, the pieces of fish were small, and not very fresh tasting. The salad dressing was watered down and the sushi rolls were not much better. With all of the really good sushi places around I will not return to this... More

The sashimi was great , the place also is good, the menu won't surprise you. The price is good, but I think I left with a bad impression because I was late... But I'll be back for more....

I was not a sushi lover, until I ate at Kansaku. I would highly recommend the Spicy Tuna Tatar for an appetizer. It is lightly seared with the perfect amount of spice. I have also had most of the sushi rolls on the menu and everyone has been very fresh and delicious. The presentation is quite nice with an artistic... More
