Fabulous food, poor service

The food and wine selection is fabulous! Don't come here if you don't have time for a 3-hour dinner. The service was slow and poor.

We had dinner with a group of 30 people for a rehearsal dinner. While we had a somewhat limited menu, the food quality and quantity was excellent. After being seated and getting our drinks, we were asked to order an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. Then we were brought fresh baguettes and some hors d ouvres, primarily three types... More

To me food comes first in a restaurant and I found it lacking and targetted to Americans, playing the French card too much. In France you would see poulet de Bresse on a menu, not much coq au vin today but coq au vin sound gear in English beside tasting good. I hate those French flags every where and the... More

Quite large portions as is typical of the Midwest. The food may not be so adventurous (one doesn't see onion soup too much anymore) but it is competently prepared and nicely served by a friendly waitstaff. Also the maitre' and hostess were quite warm and friendly. The room evokes Camus, Sartre, and de Beauvoir.

My husband and I have been to Bistro Bordeaux a handful of times, each time with high hopes for a lovely French meal. While some of the entrees are tasty, the attitude of the staff is generally unfriendly and some of the food is unimpressive. We've been there during all seasons and once on New Year's Eve, which was especially... More

This restaurant is quite a gem. The room is comfortable and has a lovely feel to it. The menus is diverse and has something for everyone. The onion soup is the best I have ever had. The flavor, the amount of perfectly melted cheese was amazing. The seared foie gras was so perfectly prepared that everyone ate off my plate.... More

Truly reminds me of being in France. From the tables to the music to the servers. Food is top notch and nice wine list.

We had 6:30 reservations last Friday night and were the first to arrive, but soon the restaurant was packed. The wait staff was very attentive and seemed to know the offerings well, and gave good recommendations. Two of us ordered the steak frites starting with the best onion soup ever... The cheese topping was crusty, no evidence of soggy bread,... More

We have been patronizing Bistro Bordeaux since it opened and enjoyed the food and ambiance. Our most recent visit, however, was not up to par. The salads were good, and the atmosphere is very nice but . While it may have been an off night the salmon was mediocre, and the steak frite was chewy and not well done. Service... More

I started my meal w/Salade Lyonnaise which claimed to have a poached egg on the top of greens w/lardons. It was a bit overpowered by the lardons and the egg truly didn't look cooked--liquidy whites and the yolk was just barely visible. My coq au vin was truly delicious and I would order it again in an instant. My husband's... More
