Great French Food in Evanston!

This bistro/cafe serves authentic and very good French food. We shared a dozen oysters and a dozen escargot, dipping pieces of the French baguette in the escargot herb butter. We had bouillabaisse, pan roasted trout, mussels in white wine, and coq au vin. For dessert, we shared a dark chocolate... read more

It's a great place for bistro lovers. Like to be in France ! The decor is exactly the same as any classic bistro. Order the mixed green salad with vinagrete sauce and a steak with french fries. Great moment I had last week.

I normally review on food alone but this time I must give a rating based on the overall experience. This was our second time at this restaurant in the past month. We arrived at opening and waited a long while for the maitre d' to come over to serve us (he was with the wait staff behind the bar tending... More

Superb menu including a prix fixe menu on Wednesdays. Good wine at a reasonable cost. Perhaps slow service but it is surely speedy relative to dining at almost any bistro in France. Salads (endive salad, lyonnaise salad) and appetizers are first-rate. Main course is also fabulous (one of us had duck and the other two had muscles). Dessert was no... More

Very authentic French food in a nice Bistro atmosphere. Good wine list, excellent Endive salad, and steak and frites! We had profiteroles for dessert. Yum

Authentic French restaurants are hard to come by, but Bistro Bordeaux hits virtually all the right notes to make the dining experience feel like you have slipped temporarily into a little pocket of France. The restaurant is located on a side street, the dining room itself small, quaint, and the walls full of vintage French art. Waiters are dressed like... More

Using a Groupon for Sunday Brunch we arrived for our 10:30 reservation the first guests. We waited about 8 minutes to get water from a bus person, and had to ask if we indeed had a server. A table of 4 (with a Groupon) had arrived 5 minutes after we did and were getting complete service. No one seemed to... More

Enjoyed a lovely Father's day brunch here - it's a charming bistro with good service & tasty French food... Sadly, several of the dishes we hoped to have were no longer on the menu like the Chicken & mushroom Crepe, nor the Croque Madame.... Best plates from our table of 10 were: Quiche of the day (veggies with lardon)! The... More

We had a fantastic dinner at this authentic French restaurant. The service was really good. I loved the French onion soup. We split the roasted chicken dinner for two. The presentation table side was very nice. The chicken was good, but the veggies and roasted potatoes were a bit bland. Would definitely go black again.

Small family meal (4 people) to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary whilst visiting our son and his family in Evanston. Everything about the food we ordered was excellent, from the starters through to the desserts. The only exception was the Profiteroles. They did not appear to be made from Choux Pastry, if they were then they were very hard and tough,... More
