This restaurant is quite a gem. The room is comfortable and has a lovely feel to it. The menus is diverse and has something for everyone. The onion soup is the best I have ever had. Truly reminds me of being in France. From the tables to the music to the servers. Food is top notch and nice wine list.

We had 6:30 reservations last Friday night and were the first to arrive, but soon the restaurant was packed. The wait staff was very attentive and seemed to know the offerings well, and gave good recommendations. Two of us ordered the steak frites starting with the best onion soup ever... The cheese topping was crusty, no evidence of soggy bread,... More

We have been patronizing Bistro Bordeaux since it opened and enjoyed the food and ambiance. Our most recent visit, however, was not up to par. The salads were good, and the atmosphere is very nice but . While it may have been an off night the salmon was mediocre, and the steak frite was chewy and not well done. Service... More

I started my meal w/Salade Lyonnaise which claimed to have a poached egg on the top of greens w/lardons. It was a bit overpowered by the lardons and the egg truly didn't look cooked--liquidy whites and the yolk was just barely visible. My coq au vin was truly delicious and I would order it again in an instant. My husband's... More

My husband and I wanted to celebrate Valentine's Day one night early to avoid the crowds. When we arrived the restaurant was packed, but that didn't keep them from providing outstanding food and attentive service. Started with the best French onion soup I've ever had. As a bonus the room was beautifully lit with candles suspended from the ceiling. The... More

Went there for Sunday brunch - fix menu (2-3 choices in each category). Everything -- service, Bloody Mary, clams etc (even desert) was nearly perfect. We like and enjoy a good food -- and this place was pure joy. Thanks guys. We shall see you soon. If you like really good food without cut corners - join us there.

We braved the frigid cold to enjoy another dinner at one of our favorite places - Bistro Bordeaux in Evanston. Ahhh, pommel frites in beef tallow! The house-made pate! The mussels in wine and garlic, tres magnifique! There are few briny dining pleasures that can top the taste of crusty french bread soaked in that soup. The Pain Perdu and... More
