The philosophy of the menu at Bistro Bordeaux is an expression of our French culinary heritage, for which we have a profound admiration. The support of our local farmers allows us to use the freshest produce and seafood, just as one would find in the markets in the south of France. The menu showcases the freshness of these pure ingredients through simple, flavorful combinations

Wonderful French dining

New Year's Eve ! This is a small, charming bistro in Downtown evanston. From the moment of entering the restaurant the scents and sounds of France surround you. Specials vary with the seasons but all are wonderful. It's warm and dark and much easier than a trip to France.

I've walked by this restaurant dozens of times and always been very intrigued. I like the ambiance a lot and there is something very French about the place. I found the service to be great. The overall restaurant experience is good. It is a bit noisy, but it was also very crowded the night we were there. Wine selection is... More

I ordered the perfect dish for a cold January night: cassoulet. Hearty meats , beans, duck confit. And it was good, with a nice veal sausage on top. But when I was finished, it occurred to me that I had not seen the duck confit. Our server told me that it had been boned and was inside the cassoulet. Well... More

Dear Glen, Your review caught my attention, first it sounded you enjoyed our Cassoulet but then you were quick to assume the dish was missing an element because we were trying to "cut corners". I would like to assure you that there isn't any conspiracy to "cut corners" which I find offending and foolish to suggest in the first place.... More

The service is painfully slow. Food is good and the menu includes many clichés of French cuisine. There is a clear assumption that less is more.

The food was excellent and so was the ambience and service. I had the Entrecote de Boeuf Sauce Bearnaise, which was perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious. I highly recommend this bistro. It was nice to see the owner there going from table to table greeting e erroneous personally, adding a nice touch to the whole experience.

Big disappointment. We stopped in for dinner with our son for a nice meal. The appetizer charcuterie was excellent as were our soups. My wife and I had the coq au vin. We have been to France and plenty of French restaurants around the world. This coq au vin was literally almost inedible. Normally I would politely grab the manager... More

The atmosphere of this restaurant is nice, although a bit loud if you want to have conversation. The small size has that bistro feel. I have been to this restaurant a number of times and it is not as good as I remembered it to be. The service was good, but not great. It took 45 minutes to get our... More

Feels like a genuine French restaurant, and that's a good thing. Lovely service and a pleasant room.

We went with a large group on a Saturday night. The restaurant was packed and they handled our table of 8 easily. Our server Lance was patient with us as there was a lot of chatting between folks slowing down the ordering process. We really enjoyed the escargot, the charcuterie, endive salad and the diver scallops. We were not overly... More
