Upscale at good price

Upscale experience at ridiculousely low price. Share the chef and the kitchen with the nore expensive Stained Glass. Very well prepared food. Removed recently the paper cloth on the tables and now it looks like any cheap bar and tv place in America!

This place is a sister combo. It's high rent The Stained Glass, or the more cozy The Cellar. We opted for 'cozy'. The place presents itself as a tapas place, but their servings are WAY too large to be classed as tapas in my tapa book. EVERYTHING we ordered was astoundingly presented, but especially the Shrimp Tacos. Ohh Laaa Laaa.... More

A small gem serving small plates with a warm smile. Friendly staff, good wine and beer lists, with a nice variety of small plates for sampling or sharing. The food is good, the ambience is casual, tasteful, slightly dimmed lighting with contemporary tunes that add to the experience without challenging conversation levels. Moderately priced. Good place for a date, couples,... More

Intimate yet open. Great beers, terrific eats with smaller portions. No giant burgers or huge meat plates here. Service is very good. No reservations so plan accordingly.

Went for a friend's birthday, the menu featured a number of "small plates" to try amongst our table. Some small plates were bigger than others and could be considered a full meal. The sliders were great! The drink menu was also vast and had great variety. Service was great too. Without reservations on a weekend, expect a fairly long wait... More

As other reviewers have mentioned, this is a place that shares a kitchen with a more expensive, and more formal, sister restaurant. The portions are usually of perfect size to share with 3 or 4 people, but when necessary, they are very accommodating in adding extra pieces. The menu has a definite structure, but leaves plenty of room for seasonal... More

First time here on a cold Tuesday eve at 7:15. This restaurant is across from the south campus of NU. We two "mature" women were drawn by the menu that includes a well described lobster roll. Although they do not take reservations, we were immediately seated at a table for two, near the bar in this cozy storefront, nicely lighted... More

The Cellar shares a kitchen but not a menu with the more expensive, The Stained Glass which is also great. The Cellar has a comprehensive wine list, a huge group of unusual and usual beers and cocktails. You order dishes to share (or keep for yourself). You order a couple dishes and then decide on a couple more, etc. They... More

Four of us dined at this small plates type restaurant, where the small plates aren't all that small. Everything, from the wait staff to the wine, was outstanding. We shared many dishes. The standouts were the corn soup, the bacon tacos, the pommes frites, the short ribs and the mussels. One dish was better than the rest. I will definitely... More

Ate here 3 times. Interesting tapas type offerings. Good beer selection and great drinks. Service is good and the atmosphere is fun and up beat yet you can ignore it and have intimate dinner. Love the empanadas and the mac and cheese. Of course the sliders are the deal of the day and always wonderful. Sitting at the bar is... More
