We love Stained Glass and its little Cellar

I've been going to Stained Glass in Evanston for years, both for business and pleasure, and always found it very good to excellent. I just tried The Cellar, the informal small plates restaurant, just around the corner, that shares the Stained Glass kitchen. Same wonderful quality of wine... read more

I've been going to Stained Glass in Evanston for years, both for business and pleasure, and always found it very good to excellent. I just tried The Cellar, the informal small plates restaurant, just around the corner, that shares the Stained Glass kitchen. Same wonderful quality of wine, ingredients, preparation, and service. We weren't very adventurous--mostly tried sliders, fries, a... More

My wife and I ate dinner here. The atmosphere is bistro-like and a bit on the noisy side, probably due to the high ceilings. The people were a good mix with many college-age clientele. The waiter came over and asked if we were ready to order. In fact, with these small- plate venues I need some instructions on portion size... More

This restaurant is always full, but you cannot make reservation. food is excellent. beer tasting is a treat although the choice for the tasting is limited. Lobster roll is excellent and so is the black sheep burger.

Came in late because everything else in Evanston was closed. Good beer list, great waiter. Very eclectic menu, so much so I really didn't understand what they stood for. Nothing we had was bad, but room for having guests leave more pleased. Shared 3 entrees with my husband. Empanadas were good although a little too large and too much dough... More

great tapas-like dining in Evanston, the desserts stood out more than the main entrees, but that might have been a matter of mood. highly recommend.

After reading and hearing about 'The Cellar', we came for dinner on a Saturday night. Perhaps it was the busy-ness of the evening, but I could not have been more disappointed. As was already described by another reviewer, the tuna ceviche was guacamole with tuna placed on top. The mussels were frankly awful: dry, flavorless, with a bland sauce with... More

I wanna be good with these guys but as we ran in here on a rainy day I needed something warm and good. The fried chicken was not a good choice, must be a bad day, the tequila choice could be better as making a sunrise is not popular I take it. The Tuna Ceviche was like guacamole with Tuna... More

First, my favorite part! THE FOOD! The menu is very eclectic, a little of something for everyone. It's not quite a tapas style, however most servings are easy to share. My husband and I shared the bacon wrapped dates, the lamb, and the artisan cheeses. Each were unique and absolutely melted in your mouth with every bite! Our server was... More

The food is ridiculously cheap for what it is. The pot roast was really sensational and I hope that it will resurface. Always ask for the home made "pomme frittes" versus the regular fries. They recently removed the table cloths and it is a mistake in my opinion. It now look like a beer joint without the tvs.

Upscale experience at ridiculousely low price. Share the chef and the kitchen with the nore expensive Stained Glass. Very well prepared food. Removed recently the paper cloth on the tables and now it looks like any cheap bar and tv place in America!
