Great food, great staff, great atmosphere. I live in the area and have dined here on many occasions and each time, the food is great and I have never had bad service. They always make you feel welcome. Also, the frozen mango margaritas are delicious.

The food is always great at Tapalpa. The service is wonderful and the staff seem to enjoy working there - very friendly and fun. The outdoor patio is great on a nice day. This is one of my favorite restaurants.

We went here on a Saturday shortly after opening. The exterior is bland but I enjoyed the experience. The complimentary cup of Cream of Cilantro soup was most unusual and delicious. My party enjoyed the flavor although some of the party thought it was a bit spicy. I would have it again and again. Our food was rather good and... More

I am not a picky eater nor a complainer. But out experience here was so dreadful our experience should be passed on. The food menu was very overpriced. We ordered chicken fajetas; bland as was everything that accompanied them such as rice, onions, etc. Ordered drinks, weak. Place was crowded; we assumed it would be ok. Music was off key... More

Great service. Huge portions. But the only things Mexican about Tapalpa are the name and the decor. I ordered the special of the day: a carnitas plate with rice and beans. I know carnitas. This pork meat was so under-spiced you could've fed it to an infant without concern. The salsas tasted like they came from a large can. It's... More

Showed up with a party of 12. They were able to seat us within a reasonable amount of time. Once seated the staff was fantastic. I don't know how they did it but all the entrees arrived at once. When we dug in to our meals no one was unhappy or disappointed. My only nit to pick is with the... More

The food is very bland and uninspiring. The service is also very poor. Far too many good Mexican restaurants these days to waste your money here.

Ask for the salsa picante when you get your chips, much hotter than the salsa they give you when you sit down at first. There are vegetarian options and some great traditional Mexcan dishes like Birria (made with lamb instead of goat). Serice was fast at lunch and value was good. Next time I will go on Thursday night and... More

Third time eating here in the past few months, what a fantastic place Price is fine, friendly staff and wonderful, warm atmosphere. Food is terrific, fresh, hot and plentiful. Several bonuses not found at other mexican restaurants: free, fresh cup of soup of the day...I've had Corn Chowder, Cream of Mushroom (a little odd for Mexican place) and Creamy Tomato... More

I grew up in the Elk Grove Village area and Tapalpa was two blocks from my childhood home. We have frequented this establishment for over 12+ years and have never had a bad experience. We have many mexican friends who rave about the authenticity of the entrees and enjoy a strong margarita. My favorite is their seafood enchiladas. Awesome. You... More
