Charming restaurant

Love the atmosphere of this 1800's church restaurant. Decorated with antique riding toys and other interesting memorabilia. Service was excellent (Tracy) and the food was very good. Enjoyable experience.

Dinner was fabulous. Our appetizer was the portobello mushroom, which was incredible. Dinner salads with the cranberry citrus vinaigrette were amazing; the dressing should be bottled and offered for sale. The men had the roasted walleye and the ladies had the seafood tacos. Both entrees were delicious. Drinks were a very good Old Fashioned and a crisp, refreshing German Riesling.... More

A very cozy warm place to have a nice special evening. Both my husband's Walleye & my Beef/Shrimp dinner was excellent.Dessert was to die for. It was a nice & relaxing dinner, did not feel rushed at any point. Our waitress was attentive & wonderful. Definetely a place we will return to when we come to this area again.

Good food in an old church that dates back to the 1800's. Though a little bit pricey and only open a few nights a week, this was a nice stop on our way to Galena. I thought the walleye was very tasty and presented well. The scallops were good, but getting only three for the price seemed overpriced. The service... More

Very nice with simple décor. Relatively small venue. Reservations required for seating before 8PM. Full cocktail service. Excellent salad served in well-chilled bowls. We enjoyed the Walleye & Beef/Shrimp Skewer. Both entrees top quality taste & presentation. Desserts were a wonderful surprise; an extensive unlisted choice of large portioned pies & cakes. Small wait staff were very efficient and friendly.... More

Came on a Thursday night so it was not busy but we did not have the problem listed in the reviews of feeling we couldn't talk without everyone hearing because there was great background music. We started with the flatbread which was awesome the walleye was very good and my husband enjoyed his pork medallions and corn bread stuffing. We... More

Having driven by frequently and talked about going many times; finally we had dinner at Holy Mackerel. Our inaugural visit was with a group of ten who go out to dinner together frequently. We always like to try new places. The property is very small but capably handled our group. Upon arrival we were seated quickly and greeted by our... More

Dan is absolutely a TOP SHELF Chef! I met him 5 years ago and he told me this was his dream, to have his own place. We visited the Midwest again this Summer and got to see Dan's dream had come true! We made reservations for 9 and they handled the meal perfectly. The food and service was outstanding, all... More

We dined with family members on a Sunday night. We were the only guests there. The atmosphere was nice, the server was very good, and it was fun to have the room to ourselves. The menu is varied, the prices were steep. My husband enjoyed a good steak. I had a dry "smothered" chicken breast. I asked for extra vegetables... More
