This is the first time I had visited the lion and I was blown away. The decor is really quirky but not in a tacky way and the food was stunning. Quite big portions so mid week probably would only have a main next time, you get a lot for the money as it was very reasonably priced. The pigeon... More

I've been here a few times now with work at a lunch time and it is really worth a visit - I keep meaning to go back in an evening too but haven't got round to it yet! The food here is always fresh, of great quality and for a lunch time dish, the portions are plentiful - for a... More

Some friends invited us out and booked a table at The Lion (did it used to be "The Red Lion") as they had been before and enjoyed it. The place was busy even though it was only 6pm and cup final night. Needless to say it was even busier later. First impressions were what an amazing decor for a pub,... More

Visited here in late May for a family party. Pre booked for 14. The meal was superb, in a lovely decorated building. Good choice of hand pulled ales for those who appreciate it. Service was very good and the final bill was very reasonable for such a size of party. The only glitch was that we were informed on being... More

Great Blade of Beef after a Stilton and Pear starter. The wife enjoyed hers too. Great Fruit Meringue for pudding too. The food is fabulous, great portions and the service first class. Couldn't fault it. Just don't want to tell too many people about it - I want to be able to book a table again!

Popped in here bank holiday Monday after visiting white post farm down the road. Gorgeous pub. Although the actual pub area was a little too lightly lit - I prefer oldy worldy lighting in pubs - the restaurant side of the pub had lovely decor. The food was lovely, presented well and obviously homemade. Would definitely recommend going here!

Was there last week, fantastic food and service as always. I love that they will do a starter as a main for me. The puddings are always amazing. My favourite place to eat in the area by far.

After another cracking meal, with great tasting, quality food, generous portions and we'll trained friendly staff, I still think this venue offers the best meals and service for miles around. Unlike places that are great when they 1st open then go downhill, the Lion has consistently offered quality food and service. The owners and staff should be well proud of... More
