The bar was so crowded we didn't think we'd find a seat but got the last table! Went into the restaurant at the appointed hour and our table was ready. 4 of us all chose different dishes and all of us enjoyed the food and wine. Mine was a Sea Bass on Salmon Risotto and my taste buds are going... More

We've just had a wonderful Sunday lunch here, it's not the first time we've been and every meal we've had here has been good but today's was exceptional. We both had the same- frittata to start, roast beef and the best pudding I've ever had (and believe me I've had some puds) toffee eaton mess. Can't fault anything about our... More

The Lion is an excellent restaurant/pub to go to for a meal. We go on a regular basis and the service is excellent from the staff. It is a place where the staff remain and therefore recognise and make you feel welcome. The layout of the restaurant does not make it look crowded and the decor is pleasant. Every time... More

We used the Lion for a celebration with 16 people attending. Took a bit of sorting out with 2 visits before the day. Overall we were very happy with the service and the food was above average. They obviously employ a chef that has a good idea of presentation as well as taste. Great evening spoilt slightly by the wine... More

As soon as you walk into The Lion you know your going to be spoilt!! Beautiful decor, a feast for your eyes, so much to look at, the atmosphere was warm and relaxing, and the menu had loads to choose from, all lovely, fresh and locally sourced. You know it's cooked to order when it takes a while to reach... More

This pub turned restaurant looked inviting from the outside and didn't disappoint when we went in. The bar was buzzing with early doors customers, and the staff were welcoming (though maybe a little too friendly). The restaurant was nicely decorated; it felt a little like a country house dining room. There were lots of interesting temptations on the menu, not... More

Called in on a whim, as we were holidaying in the area, last Thursday night and there were no tables in the restaurant area but we were able to sit in the bar to eat which suited us just fine! The food was absolutely fantastic! I had a burger and my mum had the most incredible steak pie (it was... More

First time diners, first impressions were great, bar and waiting staff were very attentive, just felt the food was a bit 5 yrs ago.... The impractical new york style burger on over sized bun, difficult to eat onion rings and bland relish, for me it was under seasoned, my wife's blade of beef was very tender but again lacked punch...
