The restaurant had just reopened 2 days before, under new management, when we were there on a Friday. We took the train from rannoch Station to Corrour to walk and found the station had a very warm and cosy restaurant. It's now being run by 2 young ladies who make the best scones I've had in a long time -... More

Corrour Station House has been through various incarnations in the past few years but is now run as a restaurant/B and B by a young couple who take the operation very seriously and are committed to providing excellent food and drink and a high standard of hospitality. I stayed for four nights in May and ate very well. They specialise... More

Well, how to adequately describe a location as unique as this. The remoteness is instantly different and atmospheric. Their proprietors' approach and policy to make a seemingly difficult location work are impressive and work out great. The place is beautifully and lovingly renovated, it has a very warm feel and of course the lovely fireplace adds to that (especially nice... More

We had an excellent meal at the Station House during our stay on the Corrour Estate. The food was delicious and well presented and the owners were very welcoming and attentive. There was also a good draught ale. The inside of the restaurant was tastefully furnished with a cozy log fire. Lovely setting and beautiful views. Would thoroughly recommend but... More

We were overwhelmed by the stunning location and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff who went well out of their way to accommodate us. Corrour Station House is a real treat and comes highly recommended.

Brief review: Stayed there for two days last week, and everything about the trip was excellent. The weather, the accommodation, the location and Lizzie & Ollie are the perfect hosts: Making you feel that nothing is too much trouble without being overbearing. Unhesitatingly recommended.

Stayed over as a birthday treat. Corrour Station House is a hotel as well as a restaurant. You are made to feel very welcome on arrival and asked to treat the place as a home from home. We enjoyed locally sourced venison, and beef along with superbly crispy skinned, moist sea bass. We love to visit this place as a... More

Everything about this place is magical. The way you arrive on the train after a stunning journey through some of Scotland's finest scenery, the beauty of the surroundings, the comfort of the accommodation, the quality of the food and the friendliness of the welcome - all as good as it gets. The rooms were great - very comfortable, clean, stylish... More

A response to the (luckily very few) negative reviews, most recently of Bob F on April 2nd. Basically all bad reviews are about the same thing: a combination of limited opening times, few amenities on the station platform, the mandatory reservation for dinner and the possible consequences of showing up outside of those opening times or arriving much too late.

Their reservation policy is very clearly stated everywhere and is basically the only policy that allows them to survive. For a place like that to be open to everybody at all times is simply impossible - others have tried and failed. I think it's brave and wonderful that this couple have taken on this endeavour and present a well thought-through approach.

Other reviews say the proprietors are hospitable, warm and welcoming, and are known to help out where they can. The bad reviews are only from people that can't wrap their heads around what is needed to keep a special place like this open. Corrour isn't like any other restaurant and knowing exactly how many people will come and when is absolutely crucial for their survival (for example because they'd need to purchase a lot of things they'll have to throw away if nobody comes).

Making exceptions will cause more exceptions. I totally understand people's disappointment but at the same time I don't think your reviews are fair - you knew this is a one of kind sort of place and could have easily tried to check the website, make a reservation, etc.

Please also note that it isn't the proprietors' responsibility to help out travellers in need. The station is as remote as it gets and going there takes a bit of preparation. If you are stuck there and think there should be toilets and a vending machine - totally understandable, but that's a Scotrail issue, not something the hotel should be held responsible for. They have been known to go out of their way to help people out - but there are limits to what they can do if they want to keep a business going.

I know this is not a question, but I really felt the need to express this. Please note that I am not in any way affiliated with Courrour Station House Restaurant/Hotel (I will stay there in May). I'm just somebody that reads other reviews, sees the heartfelt and long responses of the proprietors, has common sense and is sensitive to unfairness.
