The Beacon has been an institution in Des Plaines forever. The food is consistently good and the drinks are strong and affordable. The wait staff and bartenders are friendly and accommodating. I have been to the Beacon many times and have rarely been disappointed. It is a tavern and their food is typical tavern food, burgers, chicken, etc. They occasionally... More

I saw mice in the washroom, also it was a pleasure to over hear the manager/Owners making comments about over weight staff, and how stupid american people are. I would never give this owner one american dollar again.

Love the outdoor seating and tournaments. They have my favorite chicken fingers... and the pizza is pretty good too.

Every time we're back in Des Plaines we try to visit Beacon Tap for the Friday night fish fry. Usually wonderful all-you-can-eat fried sole, catfish, cod, & shrimp. Sooooo disappointed this time. Eight of us met there at 6pm. The restaurant was empty inside, and the outdoor patio area was half full. That should have been our first clue -... More

The Friday night fish fry is the best during Lent. 3 or 4 different kinds of endless fried fish available. All good, their fries are also endless as is their delishous cloe slaw.

Good pizza if ordered well done but very skimpy on the toppings. I think we found 4 small pieces of pepperoni on a large pie. Every thing else was o.k.

This is one of those neighborhood bars where they recognized the 'regulars'. They run a lot of specials - from bands to karaoke, to Elvis night. They have a large outdoor seating area where there are bags and volleyball in warmer weather.

Pizza toppings are great, crust is very tough. Excellent salads with site made dressings which were wonderful. Visit this joint when our group is in town, they are not very welcoming. The waitress was very bad. Spent time sitting at the bar. Drinks were continuously given to incorrect person. Any request resulted it item being given to wrong person with total... More

I am not a fan of the pizza or the clientele much, but the burgers and chicken fingers are pretty good. The chicken fingers are breaded chicken pieces and appear to be made there. They are better than out of the bag typical fingers you get in a bar. It is local. The service is pretty good.
