Escape to a great Cave

We have celebrated a number of times at Cafe La Cave. Reservations are always honored, the ambiance is interesting, the service excellent and the food is more than excellent.

ordered steak diane thinking it would be cool to see it prepared tableside and the waiter seemed to be trying to talk me out of it. I think he didn't want to bother doing it. he did anyway but seemed bothered to have to work. i have eaten there twice and would not go back.

The atmosphere of this place is awesome. The food was okay. There are lots of places to eat at in this area but if you are looking for a quiet dinner with a great vibe this is the place to be. The service was great but the food was not outstanding like I imagined. The manager even came by to... More

Since I no longer live in Chicago, I hadn't be to Cafe La Cave in a VERY long time, but I have to say they are still at the top of their game! We held a luncheon for about 75 guests and everything was absolutely perfect and very reasonably priced especially considering the quality of food and service! The food... More

Attended a Sunday evening dinner for around 100 attendees. This was a decent place to host with reasonable food. I liked the seating arrangement - round tables of 10 people each. There was plenty of space between each guest to sit and eat comfortable. Bread served was hard, probably leftovers from a prior day. Salad was your normal average serving... More

I chose to give the Cafe a try given the good rating and reviews. I find this is one of the few cases where I don't agree at all with the Tripadvisor majority. It probably has it's clientele - just not me. Romantic? Really? The Cave decor is quite corny and fits a '60s style. Good Service? Really? Long time... More

I stopped there to escape from the horrible traffic of the rush hour and the game held in the Arena without knowing the place. Great surprise. Even though I had no reservation, the host and the Captain made their best efford to find me a spot. I wasn't disappointed. 1st class Service and food. Not very impressed with the Caesar... More

We attended a wedding this past Sunday. We really thought this would be the usual wedding food. NOT! The room the wedding was held in was beautiful! We were served drinks and appetizers on the patio. The service was second to none. After an hour we were escorted into the dining area. We had a wonderful meal of fettuccine with... More

We had a 4-some for dinner at La Cave. When the bill came, and despite our indulgences, it was in our opinion somewhat stratospheric. The food was good - not spectacular, the service was average, and the overall was just that - average. This for about twice what we typically pay for other 4-5 star Chicago area restaurants. I will... More
