Do you like good wines? Do you like great food? Do you like a great atmosphere? Then you have found the spot! Certainly not what you would expect in such remote location as Crystal Lake IL. You will find a great selection of wines on the standard list, but ... there is a secret ... there is a Reserve wine... More

This is by far the best restaurant in Crystal Lake. Great service, varied regular menu, reasonable prices, and innovative specials. 1776 is our go-to place for a special dinner out. We dined there most recently for our son's college graduation, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed out meals. You can't go wrong. Be sure to have the spicy peanut dressing on your... More

My wife and I had lunch here today after reading the fair reviews. We both had the prime rib sandwich and soup. Both soups, black bean and mushroom had very little taste even with the hep of lots of pepper and salt. The prime rib sandwiches were flavorless and very tough. Wish we would have gone to subway!! We cannot... More

Three of us dined at 1776 on a recent Saturday night and found the food to be FANTASTIC! My husband had the Jambalaya which is listed on their regular dinner menu. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal. I had the scallops and risotto and my father-in-law had a filet and potato which were both listed on the nightly “specials menu”. The... More

Who would guess such a menu and food in such a place? It truly is unique as it has colonial type setting, which could be updated a bit. With the name maybe that's the goal, but I think there is a more "fun" way to present. The food and service are very good and the sourdough rolls are worth going... More

A great experience for a night out with a fantastic menu and a superb wine list. Andy and Terry are there most nights to personally greet you and supply you with the Midwest hospitality that characterizes their wonderful place. Enjoy the crab cakes, wild meat selections and save room for the Key Lime Pie!

I've lived in McHenry County almost my entire life & have passed this restaurant a million times without stopping in. I cannot believe what I've been missing. Its a fairly small, white table cloth, intimate setting. The decor is 'colonial' to match the restaurant's moniker. The menu features creatively prepared and nicely presented game fare, paired with an extensive win... More

Do not waste your time. Went last night and spent $75 on one appetizer, two soups, one entrée, and two kids meals, an iced tea, and an orange juice. The appetizer was okay but nothing to write home about. The wild mushroom soup was so pureed that it could have come out of a can. Maryland crab cakes were entirely... More

We had not been to 1776 Restaurant for about a year but were pleasantly surprised when we visited there in March. The Prime Rib (Saturdays only I believe) is just about as big as you can find! And all meat is locally bought. Service was great and our martinis were perfect. Highly recommend this locally owned restaurant,
