A very good restaurant choice on a late Saturday afternoon. The onion rings were the best, crisp with a good bite. The PoorBoy everyone raves about? Blew me away it was so darn good, adorned with that lovely garlic butter. Amazeballs! To top it off, we ate at the bar and the girl waiting on us was totally on top... More

Known for years for its poorboys, Merichka's is still serving their famous sandwich. They are quite pricey, however. The help is hit or miss it seems...sometimes friendly, other times not so much. They revamped the entrance, but the dining rooms are quite unchanged... If you want a good sandwich, try it as a carry-out...

Since the 1950'S Merichka's has been a 'gotta-go-to' place. Friendly and low-key, with red-checked table cloths and casual atmosphere - it's a comfortable experience. My four companions from the Joliet area - didn't even look at the menu, all ordering the succulent 'Poor Boy' sandwich (yeah, we're not in Louisiana here! It is not a Po' Boy). Also a side... More

A long time Crest Hill establishment (across the street from Joliet) is known for one thing - Poor Boys! This long time restaurant shows it's age a little but it's also known for its steaks, the Yodel Burger and double baked potatoes. The Poor Boy is served on a toasted long French bun with pickles and the totally unique garlic... More

We went on a friday night. The wait was short and the waitress was very nice. We both got a steak, and they were pretty good. The salad was alright, too much dressing on it though. The onion rings were perfect, and the double baked potato was delicious. The prices were a bit steep, but overall a nice dinner.

This restaurant has been around for 60-70 years and we've been coming here for over 30 years. It's just a great experience, people come from miles around for the Poorboys (cube steak) on a buttery garlicky drenched French bread long roll. It can be ordered "dry" which is what I've been doing lately (with a side of garlic butter) so... More

1. This is not a burger, it's a Long ground beef patty on French bread loaf bun. 2. The Garlic Butter and pickles on this are amazing. 3. They are known for their "Poorboys" which are cube steaks on French bread buns, but I quit getting those several yrs ago due to the stringy stuff in them. The Yodel burger... More

I was on a 6 day, 12 state, 2200 mile road trip with a friend. Day one ended in Joliet, IL. On day three, my friend suggested I try a Po Boy at Merichka's, while he was at a family wedding in Chicago. So I did. Merichka's is in the center of a Croatian neighborhood. In fact, the Croatian Cultural... More

We would pass this restaurant by regularly, wondering what kind of restaurant it was. We first thought it to be either a Polish or Eastern European style, because of the name. In talking to friends and family that live in the area, they told us that it was a long time family restaurant and that more importantly the food was... More

I ate there once. I was disappointed when I got there because our reserved table wasn't. The food was marginal and overpriced. Would not go back.
