McCormick and Scmicks is a steak and seafood chain. The quality varies between locations. The steaks are generally cooled a little on the well side. I'm starting to think that some restaurants do that so you won't see the marbling which is easier to see when the steak is cooked rare. The service... read more

We went to this restaurant on our last night of a 3 day stay in Chicago and we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent meals, service and the ambience. We had delicious prawns and flounder dishes both of which were outstanding ;as were the desserts. The price is reasonable and the restaurant is beautifully presented. Forget about other restaurants, just... More

My husband and I were bar hopping in CHI-TOWN and wound up casually walking in to this establishment to be greeted immediately as we seated ourselves at the bar. Our servers were Stephanie and Timothy for the evening and as we sat and contemplated which cocktail we were going to have, Timothy took his time to visit with us about... More

We walked across the street from our hotel Sofitel to this well appointed restaurant and bar. Had a delicious dinner and wonderful waiter and attentive service.

We all three had something different, and all three were winners. I had a trio dinner with stuffed shrimp, grilled salmon, and 'fried' shrimp. It was served with red pepper mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. Excellent food quality, great location. Right across the street from The Sofitel. Great for people watching. Outdoor dining available. We had a really really... More

We stopped in here for drinks & appetizers. Although drinks are not considered Happy Hour, we felt it was a GREAT bargain. For appetizers we tried the Calamari, Garlic Rosemary Fries & Edamame. If we had more time, we would have stayed for dinner.

We had dinner at the McCormick & Schmick's at Chicago recently. The food was excellent and so was the wine! Ordered the McCormick's Seafood trio - it was cooked to perfection and was an absolute delight. The Penfolds Shiraz was great and complemented the food well. All in all - excellent service, great seafood and a very nice evening!

We had dinner at two different occasions McCormick & Schmick's at Chestnut (Chicago). The food is really excellent, especially fish and seafood. A well composed menu with a good variety to suit your taste. A broad range of wines to go with the food. You feel welcome here, and the atmosphere is quiet and informal. However, the service is slow... More

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
