Was told by several people and recommended on several sites to eat at The Gage. While the atmosphere was good, the food was average. The desserts were the best thing about the evening. Wouldn't go back when there are places like The Purple Pig offering items I wouldn't have eaten anywhere else.

We had our drinks and dinner downstairs. The bar and the dinner room were great. Nice atmosphere and food.

We arrived without a reservation just ahead of the lunch rush on a busy weekday. We were offered a table in the bar area which was just as quiet as one of the booths with a tablecloth. It was casual and just fine. My fish and chips were wonderful. The fish was very lightly breaded and perfectly cooked. The chips... More

Somebody wrote that the brunch at The Gage at 24 South Michigan Avenue is the best in Chicago. Well, we aren't into brunch very often. We prefer breakfast, lunch and dinner to brunch. But when a food critic claims that the brunch at a restaurant in a very competitive restaurant town, well...my wife and I had to see if it... More

I came to The Gage with business associates and was blown away by the food, the wait staff and the exciting atmosphere. I happened to come during Chicago restaurant week and ordered the fix price dinner. I had the prosciutto toast with fig jam, baby arugual, blue cheese fondue and pine nuts, the short ribs with potato puree, baby carrots,... More

Great location on Michigan Ave with a menu that's brief but has something for everyone. Favorites include the lobster roll, grilled green beans, the venison burger, poutine and fish and chips. Even the pots of loose tea show nice attention to detail. Service is consistently attentive and welcoming. The building is lovely although if you sit in the front section... More

Amazing food and service. The menue has a lot of variety Location is great on Michigan ave in South Loop, close to Art Museum and Millennium park and ChicagoPhilharmony. The only reason for 4 ot 5 stars is...the place is always packed with a lot of people (, you definitely need reservation) and very noisy. I went with a friend... More

An American Rustic Restaurant located in the iconic historic Gage Group of buildings which gave the name to the restaurant, the Gage is a charming Irish restaurant with a great bar and ambiance. We have brunch and decide to go with the breakfast menu; I have the Irish Breakfast which came with 2 eggs over easy, Italian, Budin and blood... More
