The Gage is just across Michigan Avenue from the Art Institute, so it's a great way to finish up your visit there. We found it best for a late lunch or early dinner because it's very popular, and fills up fast during regular meal times. We've tried a few unusual things, Scotch eggs for example, and they were very good.... More

Solid drink program, great food and atmosphere just of millennium park. For desert try the "Gage Sundae".

Very attentive service without being bothersome. The manager introduced himself & made sure the experience was memorable. The seafood special was mouth watering. Delicious green pea soup which I hadn't enjoyed in years. A must experience for any Chicago traveller.

Located right on Michigan Ave across from Millenium Park. Great food served up in a fairly loud and casual atmosphere reminiscent of a typical pub. The food surpasses by being well beyond your standard pub fare.

We found this restaurant by accident, although we had heard it recommended. It was a happy find and we intend to go back. My husband and I both had fish and chips for lunch which were good--even served in newspaper cones with malt vinegar (a good tartar sauce, too). It was a Saturday and the restaurant was busy, but not... More

We enjoyed the fried pickles as appetizers. Not something I've every come across previously. Pork chops and burgers for dinner. Thumbs up for both. Very short cab ride from the Mag Mile.

Tried this one because the reviews were encouraging and it looked good when we stopped by at 5 p.m. to make a 6 p.m. reservation for the next day. When we actually had dinner there it seemed more like an upscale sports bar than a fine restaurant and the ambience an hour later in the day was radically different. Our... More

Food and service was great. I wish they had more options for intimate seating. Our table was so close to the one on either side of us that I did not feel we had any privacy for our discussion.

We have eaten here before and enjoyed our experience. If you dine here, don't accept the table in the back room that abuts a partial wall. I was dressed down by a staff member for moving the table 6" away from the wall so that I could move my left arm. She moved the table back. This did little to... More

The Gage is a very busy, sprawling gastro pub, filled with energy even on a Wed. evening when we went. Decetn tap list of mostly local and a few standard beers; the bottle list is more exotic and the wine list is decent. Menu runs heavy in the game and fish, along with some pastas. Appetizers are non-standard pubfare -... More
