Servers were attentive, owner circulates to visit with every table (think Sean Connery). The food is wonderful! Try the Scotch Egg: share it with 4 people. We could have eaten two of them. We went for lunch, but it would also be great for dinner. Hip spot, great location on Michigan Ave., across from Art Institute. Parking garage elevator brings... More

Thank you, The Gage, for saving me and my colleagues on this one cold (you know, Chicago-cold) night and treating us to outstanding drinks and one of the most amazing burgers I've had. Yes, the place was buzzing and packed - but offered just the right atmosphere for a casual de-brief with some colleagues. I loved the stylish yet pub-ish... More

Our bosses took a group of 20 of us out to lunch for having a good 3rd quarter. I'd never been to The Gage before, while some of my other colleagues had and they raved about it. I had the mushroom sandwich, which was fantastic and not a portobello slapped on a roll. These were different types of mushrooms, cooked... More

I'd always wanted to eat at The Gage because it is right across the street from the Art Institute where I am a member and I'd heard good things about it. It was very busy, and noisy so if your going for lunch and want a quiet place this isn't it. I had a salmon BLT, my friend the beet... More

My girlfriend and I heard great things about the Gage and decided to have dinner to celebrate the end of a fabulous day in chicago. We were a bit surprised by the pricing but settled because we had dined in fine restaurants before. However, the Gage is not as fine dining as we expected it to be. We were given... More

We were tired and hungry after a four hour tourist excursion. The Gage was recommended and nearby but seemed to have a number of people waiting. But we were lucky and our party of seven was seated immediately. Our tastes are divergent but each of us was pleased with our choice. The corned beef hash and poached eggs were extraordinary... More

So... I made a reservation ( I thought) for Oct 10th. When I arrived for my reservation I had actually made it for Nov 10th (DOH!) They were packed but made room for us anyway. Not only that but the manager of the restaurant took personal care of us which was truly going above and beyond. The food was delicious.... More

I simply love the Gage. I frequent the restaurant. I just had lunch there with a friend and the food was tasty as usual. I had the venison burger, not the first time, and it is just yummy. My friend had the steak salad and loved it as well. The service is good and the ambiance is cozy. We were... More

Ate at the gage a few months ago for the first time and was blown away. So brought some clients there in August for dinner. They didn't trust me when I suggested it because they hadn't yet heard of it and were skeptical that it was right on the main stretch of Michigan Ave. across from Millenium Park. We decided... More

Went there last night for a birthday celebration. Great atmosphere, active in the front, dining quiet in the back. Awesome bartender, mescal and cinnamon drink. Excellent fare, venison burger is orgasmic. Excellent service, fun, attentive! We will be back often. Great place to stop after the Art Institute.
