Description: Welcome to Chef Art Smith's signature restaurant, Table Fifty-Two, the home of Southern hospitality in Chicago. Whether you are dining in the high-ceiling elegance of the upstairs dining room or the cozy, gathered-around-the-hearth comfort of the downstairs dining room, you will feel the warmth and welcoming spirit of Table Fifty-Two. His cuisine, sourced from the finest organic farms in the Midwest and ranging from Low-Country Shrimp with Stone-Ground Grits to Pistachio-Crusted Chicken Breast with Coconut-Ginger-Chili Sauce, Table has received raves from the public and food critics alike. Chef Art approaches cooking and dining the same way his mother and aunts and grandmother did, in the grand tradition of the South: use the freshest seasonal ingredients, prepare them lovingly and share them with your family and loved ones.

Love this place! Small, beautiful, and great menu. Fired green tomatoes appetizer is excellent. Humingbird cake is fabulous! Mac and cheese is to die for -- best I've ever had!

Art Smith's restaurant is small and unique with an innovative American menu. Look around and local families and friends are celebrating graduations and birthdays. Loved it...and yes..try the crab cakes..they are the best !

We visited Table 52 for Mother's Day Brunch. It was a wonderful experience. We were seated upstairs in the dining room, and I will say that it was a better space and not as crowded. Three of us chose the fried chicken and waffles - all I can say is that it was amazing!!! My husband had the breakfast pizza... More

Loved the food and cozy ambiance on a chilly May night. The menu had many things I'd loved to have tried but how much can one eat? Don't forget to leave room for the hummingbird cake. The only thing that didn't make our evening 100% perfect was that our waiter seemed to have a bit of an arrogant attitude but... More

Art Smith used to be Oprah's chef, and has cooked state dinners for the Obamas in DC. Table 52 is a secret among Chicago foodies, less well-known outside the city - certainly not as hipster as Girl and the Goat. Twice I've dined, twice I ate way too much, and twice it was worth it. His crab cake is incomparable.... More

Went to dinner with collegues. Food was good but my fish was too salty along with one of the sauces being too salty. Not what i expect from this level of restaurant. I had the fish special. The mac and cheese was nummy. I might try the pizza and a salad next time.

When we visit Chicago, we usually make a point of eating at Table Fifty-Two. During our last visit, in April, the experience was negative enough that I doubt we will be back. Chicago has too many excellent restaurants to waste time in one where the food is no longer the same quality that it used to be, and where diners... More

We tried as much on the menu as we could. The pickle plate appetizer was delicious and shared by four people. The gumbo was good, the beet salad better than any I've tasted. Our main courses were so tasty no one wanted to share! The pork chop was the best! Try the Mac n cheese! The price of the meal... More

First and foremost, everything was good. Our main course, a shrimp/seafood carbonara represented oohing of carbonara at all...and was a bit on the small side. While tasty, it's not what was promised. Maine desserts a a good selection of French wines. Desserts should be had and shared, in particular the hummingbird cake.

We got a reservation a week prior to our visit to Chicago and were able to walk here from our nearby hotel. Although we asked to be seated upstairs, we were told it was a private function. The first floor dining room is small, but well decorated with Southern charm. As out-of-towners, we're still put off by the tight seating... More
