Good place for breakfast

Good choice of breakfasts at reasonable price. Busy at weekends, so go early especially on a Sunday. Quick effecient service.

This restaurant would of gotten 5 stars if only the Tempo Cafe would offer Crepes! The french toast was excellent, the service very good, the price was ok and our detour worth the extra 10 min walk!

Tempo Café is located just around the corner from the hotel that my wife and I stayed at while in Chicago. We stopped in for breakfast the first day of our vacation and wound up going back every day thereafter! It is a bustling city café and always seems to be hopping with diners. Most days we had a few... More

This was right next to the Sofite, where I was staying. It was nice to sit outside, and the breakfasts were good, in a bustling atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the waffles. Service was good - efficient and friendly.

We were staying for a week in the Sofitel next door to this restaurant, and ate breakfast here every day. After the first day's delicious breakfast we just had to keep coming back. You have to try the scramblers, they are amazing and they kept us going until well after lunchtime, in fact most days we just had breakfast and... More

We stumbled upon Tempo while walking around near Michigan Ave, looking for a good place to have brunch. This was a pretty good find. We mainly decided to stopped because there were quite a few people eating on the patio, and seemed like good ambiance. The food was pretty tasty. I had french toast with berries and bananas, which hit... More

I ate here two times over a long weekend. Coffee is good. Omelets and scrambles are great. Too much food for one person, as it comes with hash browns and toast. We had a 22 moth old with us and needed a high chair. Hostess said she would like for one then came back and said they were all in... More

We asked a store clerk where to go for a good inexpensive breakfast and he suggested this place. We arrived around 10:30 and the restaurant looked full, I thought we would have to wait for about 20 minutes, luckily they were able seat us immediately and we were even given a choice of indoors or outside. Everything on the menu... More

We stayed at the Sofitel for 3 nights and found this place after checking out the neighborhood, fantastic eggs huge skillet portions. The Belgian waffles are so delicious. We dined outside 2 days and was seated fairly quickly. I would highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch .

The waffles were better than any I've ever had. The corned beef hash was "pedestrian" at best. The eggs benedict were great. The staff is busy to the point of appearing rushed. The outside seating was a pleasant experience.

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
