Great "Tempo"

Tempo is one of those diners that make you feel comfortable and at ease. The portions they serve are huge and it would be great to start your tour day with a full stomach. After having your meal there I sure you won't need to eat until suppertime.

We went early on Easter Sunday. Service and food was simply excellent! By the time we were finished the place was packed!

If you want a great place for an affordable breakfast, then look no further than the Tempo Cafe is you're near the northern section of the Mileage Mile. Very large portions that are quite tasty; most single orders are enough for 2 people. Highly recommend any of their omelettes, which are quite unusual as they have a layer of potatoes... More

This place is very friendly, clean, nice people. Waffles are delicious. I recommend the Tuna sandwich. It come with fries and a good portion of tuna.

We had breakfast there. The food was amazingly fast and delicious. Large enough portions that I just shared with everyone else.

We have enjoyed breakfast at this restaurant on many occasions over the last 15 years. Atmosphere: this is a small venue with tables very close to each other. It gets noisy and you get bumped by the servers walking between the tables. Do not get the wrong opinion, you feel like you are having breakfast with a hundred of you... More

Tempo Cafe is a middle of the road establishment. Their food or atmosphere is not memorable. However it is clean and the service is fast and usually friendly. They serve breakfast 24 hours a day so that keeps me coming back.

Had breakfast here twice in a coupe of days and first time was good the second time average. Food is cheap and good and you get plenty for the price. Less than $10 and you will be full for half the day. Also open 24 hours. Our issue the second time was dirty glasses and cutlery and i don't mean... More

Had lunch here and ordered a burger. Despite being asked how I wanted it cooked it arrived well done. In my opinion a good burger depends on nice bread, good quality meat that is well spiced and cooked medium rare and what really makes the difference is the sauce. This is where a restaurant can stand out. At Tempo Cafe... More

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
