No trip to Chicago is complete without going to this place. No wonder Men's Magazine listed it as one of the essential restaurants you have to eat at before you die! The downside is that the cat is out of the bag and there is a wait but it is well worth it.

Went on a Saturday and ordered the duck fat fries, polish dog, corn dog, mini-bagel dogs with tater tots, fire dog, and the Bo Derek (mighty, mighty, mighty hot). Duck fat fries didn't taste any different from regular fries. All the dogs except the Bo Derek were good but really not worth the 4 hour wait from standing in line... More

Great place for hot dog lovers, but the line was extremely long and slow moving. Doug is a friendly guy whose personality made the experience enjoyable. The dining area is small but enough space to service the moving line. We didn't have to wait for a table and servers were helpful. Even though Doug's is closing, it was worth the... More

I was headed to a concert in Millennium Park I had a few hours to kill so we went over to Hot Dougs, I was utterly superseded at the long line. Must be good the line wrapped out the door past the driveway and halfway down another building. It took 3 hours to get a hotdog. I'm not a huge... More

Doug takes your order. He IS this place. Colorful, whimsical and darned good "encased meat". Yep Doug nailed it. Now we hear he's closing Hot Dougs. Get over there right away!!

Get there soon (and early to avoid the lines) and get an Atomic Bomb!! If heat's not your thing, try the Andouille or Thuringer.

I'm a local, and I have to say, I've become a regular at this place. The food is absolutely the best, with a range for anyone. Despite this, I won't lie, I go in for the simple stuff. Just give me a hot dog, and I'll be on my way!

Yes there is always a line-up so plan accordingly. Please don't think of this place as a hot dog restaurant. I had a duck sausage with foie gras and truffle aioli. I also had a lamb merges sausage with halumi cheese. (Pardon my spelling) This place is strictly eat-in, - no take out. There is no avoiding the line. We... More

Yes, the line is ridiculous. But doesn't that mean something? I live in LA and there are many unique hot dog restaurants so I honestly thought Hot Doug's was just like those in LA. But boy was I wrong. I waited 1 hr and 45 min and it was totally worth the wait! The meats are very different. Nothing like... More

Hotdogs were very good but I wouldn't stand in line again. It took us an hour and we ate at other hotdog places in Chicago and they tasted the same without the wait.
