Fun Restaurant

Had to try deep dish pizza on our visit and Gino's is said to have invented it along with thin crust. There was a short line-up outside - which apparently is normal. When you are first seated they let you know that it will 45 minutes to 1 hour to make the pizza so order early. You are allowed... read more

Lines can be long, but the food and atmosphere are worth it. Deep-dish pizza takes a little longer, but this is the way it should be done in Chicago. The walls are covered with names and comments from customers over the years.

When we had already been waiting outside for about an hour, and the waiter told us we'd wait an hour for our deep dish pizza, we just about passed out from hunger. When it arrived, it was mediocre. Crust tasted sweet- like some sort of corn bread. I can't say that I'd recommend it, but my husband loved it due... More

Especially teens. I've been coming here since I was a teen 40 years ago. I hadn't been for many years. We had an out of town guest who had never been to Chicago and this was one of the highlights for her. Being able to write all over the walls and seeing pics of all the famous people put it... More

Of course as a New Yorker I am biased but this deep dish pizza fails to compare with NY style. We had a party of 6 and got in line on the sidewalk. After about 45 minutes I went to the bar and ordered a drink. $15.41 plus $2 later we were seated. It only took an hour and a... More

Grabbed a pizza here after work. Sat outside on the patio, which isn't particularly aesthetic, but was still good. The pizza was really really good. The place appears to get crowded, particularly inside, so if you plan to go, just be aware. I'd eat here again.

The line up can be long but it actually moves quite quickly. Once you get in though the place has character. If you get a white marker you can leave your signature on the wall or on a booth. The pizza itself is fantastic. I'd suggest the meat lovers if you aren't vegetarian. The sausage in it is very tasty.... More

This was the first family trip to Chicago for my teenage boys, so Chicago pizza was on the checklist. I knew this place gets busy, so we stopped in at 4:30 when it was not too busy. The waiter informed us that it would take 1 hour and 20 minutes to get a pizza. Fortunately, it came within an hour.... More

Staying in Magnificent Mile

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
