Worth the wait!

I have stopped in here twice while visiting Chicago from Ohio. Both times the food was outstanding. If there is a wait (oftentimes there is) you can order coffees from a coffee bar where you wait. This is way better than standing in a cramped room with strangers staring at their phones. The... read more

This weekend I took my family to a stay-cation in downtown Chicago. We ate breakfast at The Bongo Room and loved it. They have very unique and fresh dishes. My son had the crime brûlée pancakes that where sweet and delicious. My daughter had the tower of chocolate French toast which was tasty but too big to finish. Big portions... More

About half full at 9am Monday morning. Like my other reviews my wife and I shared our meals. 2% Milk $3.50 not bad considering location and actually was 2% not watered down 1% or skim. Vanilla brioshe french toast with apples $12.75 Me 9/10 (I dont give 10's this is closest I've had to one ever) tasted excellent! Even better... More

I went there with my kids and had a great breakfast. We had white chocolate & caramel pretzel pancakes and red velvet hotcakes. They were great and very filling. Eggs were also good with wonderful red potatoes. The Thai chicken sausage was great. I'll return next visit.

I now try to eat breakfast here every time I'm in Chicago (including by scheduling a business meeting here when necessary). It can get crowded, so show up early if you can. But try some of the creative pancake options, like banana and heath bar, and I suspect you'll be as impressed as I was. They do accept partial orders... More

Stopped in for breakfast after a visit to local TV show Windy City Live. Almost walked by it, the restaurant is rather small. The decor was comfortable and the atmosphere was moderately energetic. I was seated right away. I ordered the chorizo and avocado omelette. It was good, but the chorizo was a little overdone. The potatoes were average. The... More

I decided to get up early to beat the crowd at the Bongo Room. It was well worth it . I had an omelet that was excellent. The service was outstanding even thought they were turning the table. On the weekend I would highly recommend to get there prior to 10am to avoid the long waits

This is no ordinary breakfast place. Gourmet! The things they can do with eggs and pancakes are phenomenal !!! The waits can be long, esp on the weekends, usually out the door in the warmer months. I have NEVER had a terrible dish here. The menu changes with the seasons. if you are a foodie, this is the place for... More

So, I'm an eggs benedict junkie, and the deconstructed lobster roll eggs benedict was amazing! I'm Jewish, so this wasn't even a kosher meal but I didn't care. It was phenomenal; I finished it off in under 5 minutes it was so good. Because I was eating alone the day I went to the Bongo Room, the wait was only... More

Very simple place decor wise and just ordinary atmosphere. I ordered the BLT Benedict and it was fresh and very good. Had a few bites of my wife's White Chocolate and Caramel Pretzel Pancakes and those were delicious. The food is very good and the prices are reasonable. Will definitely come back.
