Started with the roasted vegetables. Added a little salt and it was magic. I had the chicken scaloppini. It was tender and the sauce was excellent. Pasta was perfect. My friend had the Chicken Parma and it was good (but not great).I had the tiramisu which was average (not bad). The BYOB I did not know about but I will next... More

Great atmosphere. Great italian food. BYOB. Friendly neighborhood meeting place. We started with the sausage and peppers appetizer which was excellent along with the bread and olive oil. The green and red peppers were wonderful as well as the sauteed sausage in oil and garlic. We had both the pasta and vodka sauce and a special with square pasta with... More

We visit Gio's every time we go to Chicago. We love the atmosphere, the quality of food, the friendliness of the staff, and the price. You don't get a meal like that downtown. The rice ball appetizer is must. Authentic Italian at its best. Remember to bring your own wine as it is BYOB.

This street corner Italian market in the Bridgeport neighborhood is serving up some GREAT, homemade Italian food. This cozy, BYOB spot has you sitting amid shelves stocked with pasta, sauce and other Italian goodies. There are numerous daily specials and a full menu full of fantastic appetizers (including outstanding homemade arancini) and main courses. Three people in our group of... More

Cozy atmosphere. Local character. It felt like visiting family, but with better food. Best tiramisu ever! BYOB.

Good food and good food to buy and take home to cook. I had the ravioli and it was excellent. The bread is awesome. The place is WAY too small for as popular as it seems to be

DO NOT drive past this place! Go in, sit down, and get ready for an experience like none other. This corner "cafe & deli" put out items you find in some of the best restaurants but with the attention you can only get from a limited seating place. WOW ... after my first time there I was so happy with... More

This is a charming cafe/deli in the midst of a quaint neighborhood in Bridgeport. The shelves lining the walls surrounding the red checker clothed tables are stacked with specialty Italian foodstuffs. The service was so friendly and sincere that my dining companion and I left a generous tip (close to 25%). We were there for lunch on a Saturday. We... More

When our friends, who enjoy dining at interesting and unpretentious restaurants all over the Chicago area, suggested that we visit Gio's in the Bridgeport neighborhood, we were hesitant. Bridgeport? Restaurant? Good place to eat? An oxymoron? But we enjoyed it so much that we have returned on two other occasions, all for dinner. It is a friendly, casual neighborhood atmosphere... More

Gio’s is an unpretentious combination Italian restaurant and grocery store located in the Bridgeport neighborhood. The dining area is small but comfortable, and good choices of food are offered, including sandwiches and pastas, as well as chicken and seafood dishes. Recently, my wife and I lunched there for the first time. We were provided Italian/French baguette bread and olive oil... More
