Description: David Burke's Primehouse in The James Hotel features a modern steakhouse menu with hand-picked meats that are dry-aged for 28 to 75 days in a Himalayan salt-tiled aging room on premise. An intimate new destination for special gatherings, Burke's Dining Room is a noteworthy addition to David Burke's Primehouse. Conceived as a modern interpretation of the classic "chef's table" meant for private dining, it serves to complement Chef Burke's progressive, whimsical fare.#1 Steakhouse in Chicago - Chicago magazineBest Burger in the U.S. - Food & WineBest Steakhouses in the U.S. - USA TodayBest Steak Ever - Rahm Fama of Food Network Chicago Tribune"The complex, earthy flavors that dry aging brings out had me swooning. This is the kind of meat I want my server to set in front of me when I go out and pay top dollar for a restaurant steak. The extra layer of richness the brushed-on 'beef love' added really put this one over the top."

I can't even describe it in words, to be honest. It's the most insanely beautiful layout of gorgeous (and DELICIOUS) small breakfast pieces. I love the Creme Brulee served fresh in an eggshell. And their donuts that you add your own filling to are unbeatable. You just need to go and experience it on your own because trust me -... More

Some problems occurred with our hotel that caused us to miss our reservation so the following evening we tried to get back in... no luck. We thought this would put a damper on dinner but it actually worked out in our favor. We decided to eat at the bar and it was great! Nikolajs and team were awesome, very polite... More

What a disappointment! Even with a reservation and suitably dressed (unlike the sneaker-wearing tourists), was seated near a server station; asked for a different table and was moved next to a noisy table of 5 in spite of a nearly empty restaurant @ 6:00pm weekday night. Two out of the three entrees were not cooked to order but because the... More

Came to Chicago with the intention of trying one of the many chophouses town. Chose Primehouse because of it's high reviews. Was definitely worth going. The service was excellent and the food was great. I don't know if I would say the steak was the best I've ever had, but definitely in my top three. One of my dining companions... More

It is no accident that David Burke's Primehouse consistently appears in lists of Chicago's Top Ten Steakhouses. The dry-aged ribeyes simply are out of this world. My husband opted for the 40 day aged ribeye, while I stayed in my wet filet mignon comfort zone with a 12 oz bone-in filet. While very, very good, it is no match for... More

Everything has to be viewed in context. In this case, it was a business dinner with five friends/colleagues after a very long day of committee meetings. After someone had made reservations at Primehouse, and I read the reviews on Tripadvisor, I was prepared for the worst. Net result: a very pleasant surprise. Based on some of these comments, I thought... More

If you want to experience a highly rated Chicago primehouse but don't have $200 to spend, go to David Burke's for a weekday lunch. For $15.99 you can order from their "SteakenShake" menu which gives you a choice of three different steak entrees, one of their sides and a vodka or gin martini (you can substitute a glass of Merlot... This restaurant is nicely decorated and very comfortable. Had lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It was great. There is a good selection for lunch, but they have lunch "boxes" which I recommend. Four or five selections and each box has several tasting portions with some sides which are reasonably priced for the food you get. I had filet, shrimp and... More

On my most recent trip to Chicago with my family we chose to eat a late dinner at David Burke's Primehouse. I had been there about 8 months ago and have also eaten at his restaurant in Las Vegas. I had been expecting a better meal. We were seated promptly even though the place was crowded and loud. Our waiter... More

If you appreciate the difference between great dry aged steaks and the wet aged steak that most steak houses put on their menu, than this is the place for you. 4 - 6 weeks dry aged bone-in ribeye cooked medium rare with couple of sides and a glass of bordeaux and you'll wonder why you don't do this more often....
