Description: David Burke's Primehouse in The James Hotel features a modern steakhouse...
David Burke's Primehouse in The James Hotel features a modern steakhouse menu with hand-picked meats that are dry-aged for 28 to 75 days in a Himalayan salt-tiled aging room on premise. An intimate new destination for special gatherings, Burke's Dining Room is a noteworthy addition to David Burke's Primehouse. Conceived as a modern interpretation of the classic "chef's table" meant for private dining, it serves to complement Chef Burke's progressive, whimsical fare.#1 Steakhouse in Chicago - Chicago magazineBest Burger in the U.S. - Food & WineBest Steakhouses in the U.S. - USA TodayBest Steak Ever - Rahm Fama of Food Network Chicago Tribune"The complex, earthy flavors that dry aging brings out had me swooning. This is the kind of meat I want my server to set in front of me when I go out and pay top dollar for a restaurant steak. The extra layer of richness the brushed-on 'beef love' added really put this one over the top."

slightly disappointing considering price

E had a small family sinner gathering there on 2/15/15. Service was excellent. Ambience in James Hotel was very good. while the food (mostly steaks) was quite good, I didn't think it matched the prices. I also thought the sides were a bit skimpy. with all the wonderful restaurants in Chicago... read more

I've never paid so much for a steak in my life, nor have I tasted one so intense in flavor. Try the James Cocktail. It is a nice way to start off. Chris was our server and was amazing? He told you what flavor profiles to look for and expect from steaks to cocktails. He explained the dry aged process,... More

I am truly puzzled by the reviews that claim that this restaurant does not live up to expectations.I have eaten at equally outstanding steakhouses in New York (yeah-that one), Las Vegas,Tampa (yeah-that one too), D.C. and the better ones in Chicago (my hometown). Based upon my experiences, the Primehouse is in the same league. While the sides are good, there... More

I had high expectations for this and it came nowhere near them. First we were seated 25 minutes past our reservation time. After being seated in the middle of a very loud room, which I didn't expect the restaurant to be, it was another 25-30 minutes before we finally could order our food. Not that we were in a hurry,... Sincerely I had high expectations having read so much about this steakhouse being number one in Chicago and having the best steak ( 55 aged day rib eye ) . Absolutely dissappointing from the setting of the restaurant to everything we ate. Steak sashimi , had them better , and finally the famous rib eye about 20 oz. ,average at... More

If you order dry aged steak and if you want it medium at least one can expect that they know how to do it if you pay 60 dollars for it. I sent it twice back until I got it as asked. It took 1 hour to get it and I had to eat it in the hurry because I... More

Excellent meal, great service and good vibes! I had dinner for one at David Burke’s Primehouse on quick 2 day business trip to Chicago right before Christmas 2014. And I must say that I was very pleased! Living in Texas, I am always down to try a new steakhouse when I travel to see how they compare. I must say... More

We were in Chicago for the weekend for the Auto show. Sunday night, planned on having Pizza at the hotel, but after driving around and seeing all the wonderful steak house's in town we decided to have a nice dinner. Called a few on the top of the list but they were booked. David Burke's did have a reservation at... More

I am staying at the James Hotel which makes this place a natural for breakfast before starting my work day. I ordered smoke salmon egg Benedict and it was just perfect. While I was eating a neighbor table ordered French toast and I was enticed to order a side dish. Yes I overdid breakfast but it was all worth it.... More
