Description: David Burke's Primehouse in The James Hotel features a modern steakhouse menu with hand-picked meats that are dry-aged for 28 to 75 days in a Himalayan salt-tiled aging room on premise. An intimate new destination for special gatherings, Burke's Dining Room is a noteworthy addition to David Burke's Primehouse. Conceived as a modern interpretation of the classic "chef's table" meant for private dining, it serves to complement Chef Burke's progressive, whimsical fare.#1 Steakhouse in Chicago - Chicago magazineBest Burger in the U.S. - Food & WineBest Steakhouses in the U.S. - USA TodayBest Steak Ever - Rahm Fama of Food Network Chicago Tribune"The complex, earthy flavors that dry aging brings out had me swooning. This is the kind of meat I want my server to set in front of me when I go out and pay top dollar for a restaurant steak. The extra layer of richness the brushed-on 'beef love' added really put this one over the top."

I'm from the East coast and got my dad Cubs-Red Sox tickets for his birthday. We were debating between trying a Chicago style pizza or some dry aged Midwest steaks. We decided to try out David Burke's Primehouse since the reviews were good. I currently live in Manhattan so I have been to some great steak houses, which is what... More

This restaurant reminded me of a place that has taken their fame and reviews for granted. The staff were nice but not overly helpful. The steaks while good were not the best that we have ever had given the price. I would try somewhere else next time.

When we asked the concierge where to eat a good steak, Primehouse was on his list and since it was close to the hotel we made reservations. We ordered the filet and the 55 and had very high expectations, which we were assured would be surpassed, unfortunately that was not the case. The caesar salad, made tableside was very good.... More

A good friend of ours recommended this restaurant for their red velvet cake in a tin pan. The cake took an hour and thirty minutes to come out. The cake was worth the wait. Just minutes before the cake was served, we were served the cake batter with the beaters in a small metal bowl so we could lick the... More

We made an opentable reservation so there was no wait. The service and food was top notch. During the reservation I mentioned that it was our anniversary and the staff did note that. The arugula salad with truffled tomatoes was spectacular. I love a steakhouse where they actually make great sides. The creamed spinach, truffled fries, and Mac and Cheese... More

Wow....seated promptly, great service, tasty cocktails, limited but special wine list. Steaks were amazing....the 55 day bone in rib eye with blue cheese crumbles was the star. Stand out Waygu beef appetizer, Caesar salad table side professional and spot on. Negatives? 2 identical Martini's, two completely different glasses....no bueno. Smudged wine glasses...eww. Plastic table coverings.....really? The sides (basil whipped potatoes,... More

I dined at David Burke's last night with my business partner and his family. We showed up late (9:30ish) on a Saturday with no reservations and we only had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated. We were greeted at the table almost immediately and offered a choice of water. They left us a fairly extensive wine list,... More

I have eaten prime dry aged beef for more than 40 years ... most NYC steakhouses multiple times as well as throughout the Eastern US. I was eagerly anticipating the "extra" dry aged steak from David Burke's Himalayan salt-lined aging rooms. My son and I each had the 55 day, and it had no pronounced dry age taste whatsoever. It... Strange venue to take my vegetarian wife to for our 20th wedding anniversary meal but she knows I like my steak! A table had been booked but we arrived early and were seated straight way. Not that great a choice for my wife, but then this is a steak restaurant so can't complain. She went for a Caesar salad and... More
