Description: David Burke's Primehouse in The James Hotel features a modern steakhouse...
David Burke's Primehouse in The James Hotel features a modern steakhouse menu with hand-picked meats that are dry-aged for 28 to 75 days in a Himalayan salt-tiled aging room on premise. An intimate new destination for special gatherings, Burke's Dining Room is a noteworthy addition to David Burke's Primehouse. Conceived as a modern interpretation of the classic "chef's table" meant for private dining, it serves to complement Chef Burke's progressive, whimsical fare.#1 Steakhouse in Chicago - Chicago magazineBest Burger in the U.S. - Food & WineBest Steakhouses in the U.S. - USA TodayBest Steak Ever - Rahm Fama of Food Network Chicago Tribune"The complex, earthy flavors that dry aging brings out had me swooning. This is the kind of meat I want my server to set in front of me when I go out and pay top dollar for a restaurant steak. The extra layer of richness the brushed-on 'beef love' added really put this one over the top."

Excellent Service

This was my first try at a dry-aged steak and now I know I'm not a fan. I had the 55 day, my husband had the 75 day and he loved it! Definitely an individual preference, but I thought it lacked seasoning. We also had a seafood tower, spring peas, mac and cheese and the red velvet cake for... read more

I decided to make reservations at David Burke’s Primehouse Restaurant at The James Hotel for a lunch to celebrate my boss’s birthday. There was a total of 8 of us. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Erin Hertzel, the Primehouse Restaurant Manager. She went out of her way to show us hospitality, and make our group feel very special.... More

Am from the UK and with 3 children (aged 24, 26 and 28) and as such not used to bringing ID everywhere we go. We have been living in NY for the last 3 years and all love good steak and red wine for an occasional treat. Have eaten in some excellent steak houses in NYC over the last few... More

Iconic Gibson's has been dethroned in my mind.Others agree, it was voted Chicago Magazine's top steakhouse! Their proprietary salt aging process yields a delectable steak. The atmosphere is hip, the service is stellar, the sides are divine. Signature cocktails created by talented mixologists are an added plus.

I ate here last night and I choose the 40 day aged steak. The waiter we had was super knowledgeable and very detailing the taste of each of the aging stages. I will be sure to recommend this to anyone wanting a truly great dining experience.

This was a disappointing - and expensive - experience. The room feels like a mid-priced chain restaurant rather than high-end steakhouse. We were seated by the front door - asked to be moved - and were re-seated by the toilets. Annoying winelist - almost nothing under $80 which is a cynical ploy to intimidate people who don't normally eat at... More

The dry aged steaks do not compare to those you find elsewhere. The Caesar salad, mixed at the table, is fantastic. The staff are very attentive & are very down-to-earth. I found the recommendation for this restaurant in Chicago Magazine. Their number 1 rating is completely justified! The second visit today was as great as the first visit!

My life changed after having a steak at David Burke's! I never knew that a piece of meat could be so tender and flavorful. The starters were also very good, including the pickled beets! The staff was also on top of the entire experience and did not neglect my party even though we were sitting outside for lunch.

We have been wanting to try here for awhile, after we saw them on the travel channel. The resturant is in a great location close by everything downtown. We started off with the kobe corn dogs, which were good. I didnt think they were anything special. We have had japanese kobe before, and these did not remind me of the... More

We had ten people meet up at David Burke's Prime House. All of us were from different states. We had everything from steaks to walleye. The salads, veggies, steaks and fish were all cooked, (and made) to perfection. The all-male wait staff were on top of everything. Pleasant conversation and kindness to boot, was the order of the day.
