Description: David Burke's Primehouse in The James Hotel features a modern steakhouse...
David Burke's Primehouse in The James Hotel features a modern steakhouse menu with hand-picked meats that are dry-aged for 28 to 75 days in a Himalayan salt-tiled aging room on premise. An intimate new destination for special gatherings, Burke's Dining Room is a noteworthy addition to David Burke's Primehouse. Conceived as a modern interpretation of the classic "chef's table" meant for private dining, it serves to complement Chef Burke's progressive, whimsical fare.#1 Steakhouse in Chicago - Chicago magazineBest Burger in the U.S. - Food & WineBest Steakhouses in the U.S. - USA TodayBest Steak Ever - Rahm Fama of Food Network Chicago Tribune"The complex, earthy flavors that dry aging brings out had me swooning. This is the kind of meat I want my server to set in front of me when I go out and pay top dollar for a restaurant steak. The extra layer of richness the brushed-on 'beef love' added really put this one over the top."

Quite good food, excellent service

We felt really well looked after, and enjoyed our meal. We both had cocktails to start which were good. We then had a steak each and 2 sides, which didn't seem as good value as we expected, it wasn't the best I'd ever had, but was probably the most expensive.

After discovering that another restaurant was out of business, we noticed that this steakhouse - my favorite - was open for breakfast. Wow! I had always rated the Conrad the best breakfast but this is comparable. The prices are no more than other nice restaurants' and the food is equal in quality to the dinner food. We missed going there... More

My partner and I visited this restaurant which was attached to our hotel when we recently visited Chicago. It was amazing. We had bacon sticks for starters (shared) my partner has dined at this restaurant before and so knew that we needed to save room. We then had steak - I had the Filet Mignon which was delicious and then... More

Stopped in for a drink after dinner elsewhere, before heading back to my hotel. Ordered a mojito - the freaking best I've ever had! Bartender Gustavo even offered to comp it if it wasn't what I'd hoped for (since I'd asked him how good he thought theirs were). Saw others eat several of the bar offerings, none were disappointed. And... More

A year or so ago the dinner served was, to the best of recollection, expensive and petty good. This time it was lunch during the meddle of the week. No need for reservations, the restaurant was pretty empty inside and outside seating. One waiter easily took care of all patrons. Interior of the restaurant is minimalistic, but comfortable. The lunch... More

Truly enjoyable last-minute Father's Day booking for our family of 4 to enjoy some decent dry-aged steaks. Really laid-back feel to the place and excellent food. A little disappointed on wine presentation given we ordered a Tignanello and it wasn't even decanted; I'd expect better if you're going to charge $225 for a Supertuscan. Otherwise, nice spot, lunch time was... More

Had a Gilt City voucher for David Burke's Primehouse Chicago. We both had the signature 40 day dry aged prime steak burger and we shared the tempura vegetables as a side. We ordered the burgers medium rare. They both came medium -- well maybe a little more cooked because there was no pink inside. I sent mine back, and it... More

Excellent attention to my wife and I by all staff members. Nice touch with wine selection assistance. Steak was only average tasting at best. I was disappointed; especially since dinner cost was $279 not including tip!

It was noisy, crowded, and we were seated at a booth. Our server had to raise his voice to be heard in order to explain the menu. My filet mignon was charred and apparently that's the way it is to be served. After that comment, what else can I say? Not much.

Great steak sandwiches at a reasonable price. Service was excellent. Many other options are available, but don't miss the chance to taste the work of a master chef!
