Description: David Burke's Primehouse in The James Hotel features a modern steakhouse...
David Burke's Primehouse in The James Hotel features a modern steakhouse menu with hand-picked meats that are dry-aged for 28 to 75 days in a Himalayan salt-tiled aging room on premise. An intimate new destination for special gatherings, Burke's Dining Room is a noteworthy addition to David Burke's Primehouse. Conceived as a modern interpretation of the classic "chef's table" meant for private dining, it serves to complement Chef Burke's progressive, whimsical fare.#1 Steakhouse in Chicago - Chicago magazineBest Burger in the U.S. - Food & WineBest Steakhouses in the U.S. - USA TodayBest Steak Ever - Rahm Fama of Food Network Chicago Tribune"The complex, earthy flavors that dry aging brings out had me swooning. This is the kind of meat I want my server to set in front of me when I go out and pay top dollar for a restaurant steak. The extra layer of richness the brushed-on 'beef love' added really put this one over the top."

Delicious Burgers

After having my life-changing steak here, I ventured back for the 40-day dry-aged burger. Wow--this was the best burger that I've had in the entire city. The burger came with cheese, bacon, onions, and a large side of fries. I knocked off a point from the review for two reasons: (1) I ordered... read more

The walls of the dry age room are lined with Himalyan salts to provide a unique flavor of the meat. I have dined at many steak houses and did not find the flavor to be much different here than others. I had the 40 day age KC strip med rare: unfortunately it was slightly over cooked. My wife's filet was... More

Excellent steak house with especially their aged steak. We even got a tour from the manager. From appetizer (bacon sticks with maple syrup and wagyu beef sashimi are to die for) to dessert, everything was served right on time. The staff is very friendly and accommodating if you can't decide on what to get. Steaks are cooked to perfection. I... More

I'm here in Chicago on business, so I thought I'd check out one of my favorite chefs, David Burke. The restaurant is in the lobby of the James Hotel, a lovely old place. The restaurant is well-appointed, with plenty of staff running around. I received excellent service throughout the entire meal, with no problems whatsoever. The menu has a lot... More

My preference is simplicity. Especially when I am at a "Prime" restaurant. I liked the steak however all the sides were smothered in cheese and other stuff. Just not my cup of tea. If I am ordering top shelf the food should speak for itself. Just my liking. You may enjoy it!

Wife and I were staying at the James Hotel attached to the Primehouse. The place was packed to the gills on a Tuesday night. Sat at the bar and ordered from the bar menu. You have the option of the restaurant menu if desired. We both had the aged burger. It was huge, guessing half pound, grilled sesame bun, grilled... More

Looked for top-rated, non chain steakhouses in Chicago, and Burke's was listed as a top choice on several sites. Overall the atmosphere was average, and the service was good, but not great. Our food on the other hand was very disappointing. We had to send both of our steaks back because they were clearly med-well when ordered med-rare. Living in... More

I want to state that my husband and I had a good dinner and decent service. I just expect at a certain price point to have a fabulous dinner and remarkable service. My wife and I ate here in May while staying in the Hotel. I had the Eggs Benedict which was excellent. The decor of the restaurant is nice and well lit. We had a window booth. Came here with colleagues after a business meeting. I tried the filet while my colleagues went for he aged ribeye.
