Great Place Kind of Expensive

The atmosphere, food, and service were all wonderful at the Custom House. It was attached to our hotel (Wyndom's Blake) so it was an easy choice. We enjoyed the experience, but hamburgers and fries with a couple of drinks was well over $100 for a couple. The wait staff was exceptionally friendly... read more

This restaurant in the heart of lower downtown Chicago tries very hard to present great dishes. The room seems much more inviting at lunchtime. The large windows on three sides make you feel like sitting in a fishbowl at night. Service was ok, food better than slightly better than average.

Service and food were fantastic. The appetizer of pasta, butternut squash puree, shaved brussel sprouts, and toasted almonds was out of this world, one of the best things I have ever eaten! The service was also stellar.

Nice seasonal menu and excellent service. Located in Printers' Row, Custom House offers dishes using fresh seasonal ingredients and a fun bar/wine list.

This place is expensive, and there are so many cheaper options in Printers Row that this is a special occasion place for us. The drinks are really really good, and the food is amazing. Good place to kick back after work or with a bunch of friends.

Custom house is a really good restaurant that has a very modern decor and a nice staff. The food is delicious and served in unique ways. I had the steak one night and you could cut it with a butter knife. Also, the roasted chicken took a little while to cook but was also delicious. This is a great place... More

On a recent business trip, we enjoyed a fabulous dinner at the Custom House. I have a gluten allergy and it is very difficult to eat out and feel comfortable that the kitchen really understands how serious it is. From the moment we first met our server, she was extremely knowledgable about the menu and exactly what was gluten free.... More

We stayed at the hotel for a few nights on a business trip and amazingly the concierge did not recommend this restaurant. We instead visited the Chicago chop house which for us was vastly overpriced and just OK food. Custom house was our choice for the next evening and the menu was so interesting it was very hard to choose... More

This was a business lunch. The hostess was on a personal call so it took a few minutes to be seated in a nearly empty restaurant. The service was slow. Our server was so quiet we could hardly hear him, he was not familiar with the menu, and was not attentive. The entrees were just okay. The sorbet was definitely... More

I was looking for a light lunch. I found it here. And .delicious. I also stopped here for a breakfast of Red Flannel hash. It was made with sweet potatos and beets. It was great. I highly recommend this restaurant. Clean and great music.
