Description: (OH-STEH-REE-YAH) A casual Italian tavern where people gather to enjoy antipasti with wine, a plate of pasta or an Italian feast, all served with the warmth and hospitality of family. Osteria Via Stato, a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant follows this definition and the Italian tradition of seasonally prepared dishes featuring local ingredients and artisanal producers paired with an all Italian wine list. Osteria Via Stato opens daily at five. Pizzeria Via Stato located adjacent to Osteria Via Stato is a cozy, Roman-style pizzeria that continues to highlight Executive Chef Digregorio’s passion for market-fresh ingredients. We were lucky to get a table right on the corner of Ontario and State. Excellent location to watch the constant flow of traffic and people. We chose the Heirloom Caprese and the Veal Meatballs as appetizers. Both were delicious and very generous portions. These were accompanied by warm bread. The "special fish" was perfect; both flavourful and a good... More

I know Chicago is deep dish territory, but the thin crust pizza here is fantastic. Sit at the bar enjoy a local brew and watch your pizza bake!

We sat outside on this warm night and though I love eating outside the road noise from Ontario St made our experience not so relaxing. But the stress continued to ramp up as our waiters scurried around to bring our food and take away plates even in mid-bite. We opted for the family style two courses, antipasti and pasta. The... This was the best food we had during our whole trip to Chicago. Everything was outstanding and fresh and made with excellence. The wine was nice also. The gnocchi was great, highly recommend. My only complaint was the bread pudding which was very good but super tiny; I mean like a silver-dollar pancake, definitely about 1.5 inches across. No excuse... More

Serously. This is the best chicken I've ever had in my entire life. Everything was delicious! The bistro side has a very nice menu too! My only issue, we ate early and the restaurant was pretty much empty. Despite this, they sat the only other party RIGHT NEXT TO US. Ugh.

We dined at the Osteria Via Stato on an evening in which it rained…but before we felt any raindrops (as we were dining outside), the awnings were activated and it was fun to sit under them and hear the rain as we continued to dine. The bread and oil/mushrooms in which to dip the bread were very tasty as were... More

In addition to great pizza this is a very popular Italian restaurant and offers small plates as well. Try the beet salad or the octopus - yummy

Let me start by saying the warm bread served while you wait for your meal is outstanding! It is served with a garlic and olive oil dipping sauce. Just that alone could have been my meal. I was impressed they offered side dishes (smaller sized main dishes) for those of us who are not big eaters. If you are a... More
