Description: (OH-STEH-REE-YAH) A casual Italian tavern where people gather to enjoy antipasti with wine, a plate of pasta or an Italian feast, all served with the warmth and hospitality of family. Osteria Via Stato, a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant follows this definition and the Italian tradition of seasonally prepared dishes featuring local ingredients and artisanal producers paired with an all Italian wine list. Osteria Via Stato opens daily at five. Pizzeria Via Stato located adjacent to Osteria Via Stato is a cozy, Roman-style pizzeria that continues to highlight Executive Chef Digregorio’s passion for market-fresh ingredients. The tavern pizzas have crispy, thin crust with both artisanal and classic toppings. The tavern also features 300 Italian wines, local bottles and draft beers as well as an extensive selection of small plates. Pizzeria Via Stato offers both lunch and dinner

I liked it. We ordered the beet salad for a starter, it was fresh and wonderfully dressed. This place offers family style serving, so we ordered the papperdelle ragu and short rib ravioli bowls. Both were yummy. The missing stars would be for the portion size. For being advertised at family style bowl, there wasn't quite enough for the 4... More

It is a little pricey if you are not used to fine dining, you probably shouldn't go here but I will tell you the Filet Mignon is the best steak I have ever eaten in my life. The atmosphere is awesome. The service is great and I will go back again. This was my third time to eat here. Love... More

I like options. Osteria is really 2 restaurants in 1. One side is the pizzeria, bar and table seating, the other side is a more formal, quieter Italian dining experience with different menu's. The SERVICE is impeccable! I've dined at the bar, in the Pizzeria and in the more formal side. Servers, namely Sara and Lilly, always are at the... More

We came here after trying to get into Quartino and the wait was long- we waited about 10 minutes on the bar side and were seated. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the small plates were. We ordered meatballs, sweet onions, beet salad, fonduta and caprese salad. All of them were excellent and came out very fast. They have... More

In Chicago for a conference and Osteria was recommended by some friends. Delicious food and the wait staff was fantastic. Recommend this if you are looking for good Italian food in downtown Chicago.

Authentic European atmosphere and Italian food, so tasty! Had the penne with spicy cream sauce and nearly licked the bowl! Right from the start when you're offered a choice of sparkling or still water, you know this is a well thought out eating experience. Knowledgable and friendly staff. We had individual meals but they also serve food family-style. Would definitely... More

It's very hard lately to find really thin crust pizza. The best I have found in downtown Chicago is Osteria Via Stato. The pizza and small plates are served in the front area of the restaurant. They nhave a full service Italian restaurant in the back area. I don't know when Chicago ended up being "named" a deep dish pizza... More

We live in the Chicago area, and I'd always wanted to try this place. Our opportunity came when we dined here with friends who were, with me, attending the same conference. There were six of us, and we sat at a round table, making it relatively easy to have a conversation. We loved the food--it was tasty and well-prepared--but we... More

First time in Chicago for my boyfriend and I, a friend just gave me this adress! I didn't expect much, just a good/decent Italian restaurant (its not that I don't have trust in my friend but sorry to say in north america a good Italian is difficult to find). Originally from Europe, it was always a deception for us when... More
