had dinner there last weekend in Chicago and we realized as soon as we walked in that we had also been there on our first visit to Chicago years ago and couldn't remember where we went so we looked on trip advisor and booked it. were happy to be back, the food did not disappoint and our waitress was fantastic.... We ate at Osteria Via Stato on our last night in Chicago & enjoyed it immensely. I had a fabulous dirty gin martini, and my husband was pleased at the price of their McCallan 12-year old scotch. The veal meatballs were the best I've ever had (I could drink the marinara!). My husband ordered the chicken parm but didn't care... More

Called in late, about 10, on a Wednesday night, and the place was emptying, only one other table who left half way through our main leaving the restaurant to us. The front is pizza, rear and better decorated room is the Osteria. First up was some warm bread and lovely garlic clove oil dip, delicious. We shared some veal meatballs... More

We recently went back to Osteria Via Stato because the previous time the food and service was so good we wanted to go again. For both meals a few items overlapped. The bread served with the roasted garlic with balsamic and olive oil is to die for. Seriously I could just eat that and be happy. Like the time before... More

The restaurant has 2 dining areas. One is by the bar and has pizza in menu. The second, larger section has larger selection of menu items. Very intimate, great food & service. They serve warm bread with the best garlic clove dip. We kept on asking for more. Other yummy items I recommend are: chop salad, gnocchi, any pasta really.... More

Sit outside weather permitting and watch the hoards of tourist walk by. The cracker thin crust pizza is outstanding as is the service . Extensive menu along with a wonderful bar.

I admit, we showed up about 20 minutes before closing. Just wanted a nightcap and a quick bite, so we sat at the bar. I wanted a Kahlua & Cream. "Sorry, we're out of Kahlua." I then asked for Tia Maria. Nope, don't have that. The bartender was completely uninterested in suggesting alternatives. He was busy with closing activities. He... More

We were lucky to get a table right on the corner of Ontario and State. Excellent location to watch the constant flow of traffic and people. We chose the Heirloom Caprese and the Veal Meatballs as appetizers. Both were delicious and very generous portions. These were accompanied by warm bread. The "special fish" was perfect; both flavourful and a good... More

I know Chicago is deep dish territory, but the thin crust pizza here is fantastic. Sit at the bar enjoy a local brew and watch your pizza bake!
