(OH-STEH-REE-YAH) A casual Italian tavern where people gather to enjoy antipasti with wine, a plate of pasta or an Italian feast, all served with the warmth and hospitality of family. Osteria Via Stato, a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant follows this definition and the Italian tradition of seasonally prepared dishes featuring local ingredients and artisanal producers paired with an all Italian wine list. Osteria Via Stato opens daily at five. Pizzeria Via Stato located adjacent to Osteria Via Stato is a cozy, Roman-style pizzeria that continues to highlight Executive Chef Digregorio’s passion for market-fresh ingredients. The tavern pizzas have crispy, thin crust with both artisanal and classic toppings. The tavern also features 300 Italian wines, local bottles and draft beers as well as an extensive selection of small plates. Pizzeria Via Stato offers both lunch and dinner

Pizza was terrible! I used room service at Embassy Suites.

I expected to receive a chicago style pizza for $13.95 for a small, not the paper thin pizza I received. The "famous" homemade lemon cookies...were terrible also. At $1.00 per cookie, I expected something tasteful and warm. I think they must buy them in bulk!

If you like Italian food from the Abruzzi area of Italy and are hungry for it in Chicago, this is the place to go.The menu is a testament to the creativity and imagination of the chef who is from Campo Basso. The fried calimiari appetizer had was lightly breaded and tangy. The seasonal salad was crisp with a pleasing dressing,... More

Restaurant is VERY VERY LOUD. Trying to go for that Rustic Italian mood but for my money it was cheapo hard wood chairs, small wood tables, all hard surfaces throughout and LOUD music. I will NOT return. And worst of all, there is only ONE TOILET for men and women to use - r u kidding me?? Aren't there city... More

We stopped in for a few drinks (no food) and the wine selection was very solid as well as the draft beer options. Service at the bar was very good and the atmosphere was pleasant and not overly loud (but also not dead). Overall, we had a very nice time and would certainly stop in again but this time to... More

Great selection from the wines to the appetizers and entrees. We dined with friends and had a fantastic experience. The servers were helpful, courteous, and attentive. We selected several items for appetizers and each of us had something different for entrees. We all shared and found each item excellent. We were not disappointed in the price because our experience here... More

Rich Melman's Lettuce Entertain You empire has been in business since 1971, with more than 90 restaurants of varying themes located from coast to coast, and it's easy to see why the knife-and-fork czar has been so successful. Great food, great service, great locations. Melman has several restaurants in Chicago but Osteria Via Stato at State and Ontario may be... More

We found this place while roaming around on a chili night looking for some dinner. Nice find! A two sided restaurant/bar, casual bar on one side (still tables) and sit down table service on the other. As always we ate right at the bar and had a very pleasant experience. Service was knowledgeable on the menu, friendly and attentive without... More

Had a group of 6 people sat a round table so everyone could talk. Food was good, portions large. The only problem is the washroom for the restaurant is way up in the lobby of the attached hotel. (a 5-10 min walk)

We were staying at the Embassy Suites and this restaurant is attached through the lobby. We went there because we just didn't want to leave the hotel and we're glad we did. There is a pizzeria side and a full menu side. We chose the full menu. Cozy, dark but nicely lit. Nice ambience and very good service. Our waiter... More

We went here for dinner and opted for the dinner party menu where the antipasti, sides and pasta are served family style and then each person also gets to pick a main course. This was a great choice as everything was outstanding. The warm farro and gorgonzola & pear bruschetta were the best. I had seafood stew which was really good,... More
