Bacchanalia is unique in so many ways--I'll try to do it justice below: ABOUT THE FOOD: 1. Sooooo good. Here are my favorites: Chicken Vesuvio (mostly a Chicago dish it's chicken with the bone-in baked with garlic (lots and lots of garlic) and wine with roasted potatoes--takes 45 minutes to make so order as soon as you sit down if... more

This very friendly, unassuming place has the best linguini and clam sauce I've ever had! more

I have eaten at Bacchanalia several times over the last five years, and let me tell you: this is the best whitefish in the entire city. The ambience is not exactly high class (you're greeted by a bar full of neighborhood locals as you walk in the door), and led to the back dining room. The dining room is kind... more

What great food! You have got to go there. All the food is cooked to order, and are the dishes great tasting. They are know for the Chicken Vesuvio, but I think the Chicken Bacchanalia is just as good, if not better, it includes green peppers and sausage. Veal dishes are excellent and the Linguini with Mussels in the red... more

I had my first trip to Bacchanalia last night. It was reccomended by a friend. Wow! What a meal! Starting with the fried calamari which was wonderful. For my entree I had the chicken bacchanalia and my husband had the filet both dishes better than we could have ever expected. We finished our dinner with their home made tirimisu. I... more

I just went to Bacchanalia, again last night 3-31-2006. It was better than last time I went. I brought my boss and his wife to celebrate his birthday. He raved about the fresh whitefish. His wife and I had the scampi romano. It was outstanding. My wife had the Chilean Seabass the portion was generous and the taste was great.... more

Had dinner here on Saturday night and the food was absolutely marginal. Started with the baked clams, that were so salty, I only had two, thinking the first one maybe was just bad. We went with six people, most had the Chicken Vesuvio, which was coated with jarred garlic and under cooked, the potatoes and the chicken skin were limp.... more

Having been a customer for many years with Shrimp Bacchanalia as my favorite entree, I was extremely dissapointed in the change of my favorite dish. The quantity and size of the shrimp has diminished as well as the portion size of the meal. The new management has changed what Bacchanalia has always meant; great food with large portions at reasonable... more

Chicken Vesuvio, a heavenly dish born in Chicago, is a main reason for visiting this restaurant. Chicken and potatoes roasted with garlic and rosemary make for an evening of dining delight. No other Vesuvio can top this one. The bruschetta is the real thing: garlicked toast with chopped fresh tomatoes lead the ingredients. Even your largest relative will not be... more

This was our 3rd trip to the Heart of Italy neighborhood, the 1st trip to Bruna's was a huge disappointment, the 2nd trip to La Fontanella was a pleasant dining experience with terrific service and the 3rd trip to Bacchanalia was just as pleasant as La Fontanella. Rosebud on Taylor is still my favorite for food but for the homey... more
