Birthday Dinner was okay

My daughter chose to dine at the Grand Lux Cafe while we were in Chicago for her birthday shopping spree. The place reminded me of the Cheesecake Factory but without all of the cheesecake options for dessert. I had the Kobe meatballs which the menu said was served on a bed of polenta. My... read more

The decor is nice and reminded me of The Cheesecake Factory. We sat in a booth overlooking Michigan Avenue which was fun. We both had the soup and sandwich combination. The soup was excellent. I would have liked the sandwich better if they would have toasted the bread.

Stopping by the Grand Lux is always on my list of to-dos when in Chicago. Whether it's breakfast with a honey vanilla latte, where I could lick the mug clean, or the endless possibilities for lunch, I'm always delighted. I especially enjoy the salad/pasta lunch combos. Don't forget to pre-order freshly baked chocolate chip & pecan cookies to go. The... More

All around good experience for a family group, particularly if you have a disparity of tastes and sizes of appetite. Handicapped accessible and family friendly, but enough room to provide more intimate dining. Cuisine is American eclectic with burgers, pizza, New Orleans, Italian, Mexican, Asian, etc. options. Appetizers, small, medium, and large plates. Also baked to order desserts. Great decorative... More

Huge menu selections. We eat here every time we are in Chicago and love it every time. The Kobe meatball is to die for! We love the burgers and the freshly made strawberry shortcake. Fun atmosphere and great location overlooking Michigan Ave. EAT HERE!!

This restaurant is very good and the prices are affordable. There was always a wait because so many people were there. We ate here twice because we enjoyed the food.

Quality of food is good, expected. The baked desserts that have to be ordered 30 mins early are to die for especially the peach pie. Prices of food are reasonable ($12.95-25). Extensive beverage list and very central location on Michigan Av. Great ambience, cosy and romantic!

The view and decor of this place make the dining experience highly memorable. For that alone, its worth trip. Take all that away though, and you have an very average Cheesecake Factory...minus cheesecake even being on the menu. I probably wouldn't dine here as my first choice but I would give a fair recommendation to anyone seeking to try it... More

A friend took me here for my first birthday living in Chicago again after college. We came in, were seated immediately, and enjoyed our evening. The staff were all super friendly, personable and fun. We ate great food (she had meatballs and I had a delicious mushroom slathered burger), and loved the atmosphere. Great for a girl's night or date!

Very unique place to eat. The food was very good and plenty of it. Unless you are a hardy eater, I would recommend that you get the medium plates.
