We hurried into Dao during a torrential rain, since it was the closest restaurant to the tiny perch where we were trying not to get drenched. We sat at one of the sunken tables/padded areas in the middle of the dining room. Both my friend and I ordered Pad Thai - the shrimp were rather large, and even though the... More

Pretty good Thai food. Usually get the bamee noodles with BBQ pork (dry- no soup) and an order of tod mun pla (fish cake). Large portions. Not a bad deal if you're looking for a hearty Thai noodle dish.

Very slow service. Mediocre Pad Thai - mushy gyoza - chicken in Pad Thai was bland and tough. Service was extremely poor. Not worth the time or money.

What a cute little cozy place in downtown Chicago! The food my friends and I ordered was very good and have no complaints in that regard. The three of us felt our server had some attitude, but anyone can have a bad day. Or maybe we were! I would come and eat here again in a heartbeat!

"Discovered" this on a Friday night looking for someplace quick for myself and not too far off Mich Ave. It's larger than it appears from the street, and there's also a courtyard for outdoor seating. It wasn't very busy when I was there, so it was reasonably quiet and that works for me. The food--I stick with the basics; Pad... More

Family (parents and college/HS age kids had a pretty good lunch here on a recent Sunday. Not crowded. Good service. Fair prices, especially considering location in near North near Navy Pier and Michigan Ave. Large portions. We ordered satay, Spring rolls, pad thai, a chicken w coconut milk, and rice. It was too much food for 5 people and cost... More

The service was great. My food however was not great. In fact, it tasted odd and I didn't eat it. Thai Pepper Beef, I think it was. My husband ate his food, Singapore Noodles, but he said the dish was mediocre at best. We sat outside on a sunny Chicago day and expected to have a good experience, but it... More

Coming from the Marriott downtown, Dao is just a couple of blocks walk. I discovered it this Sunday evening as I was trying to find someplace to eat that was interesting, but not expensive. When I saw entrees on the menu for less than 10 bucks and it was Thai with authentic Thai names, I was hooked. Here's the highlights:... More

Every single thing about my food was bad. Terrible service, regular food. I had it, but if I could have asked for my money back, I would have. It does have a fair atmosphere.

Everytime we come here we really enjoy the food. The pad thai noodles with chicken and shrimp are always my favorite. If you come here in the summer make sure you sit outside. I highly recommend this restaurant.
