Looks funky but great beef

cozy atmosphere,great food, can watch it being prepared,owner usually onsite,fun experience, fun for a quick bite

Max's is barely wider than its door and the seating is 6 or 8 stools at a narrow counter against one wall. But the Italian Beef sandwich is huge and wonderful and messy. Fries are excellent too.

In August I visited Chicago and went with my family to an "authentic" Chicago hamburger and Italian Beef fast food place. The owner/manager greated me at the cashier to take my order and in answer to each of my questions I received a very arrogant answer.
