A Shadow of Its Former Self - Tasty Food

We called in advance to make reservations based on our previous visits several years ago. When we arrived at 7pm on a Saturday night, no one was dining other than restaurant employees. We could scarcely believe it. This place used to be alive and had the best shepard's pie, fish & chips and... read more

We visited the Abbey Pub in Chicago, IL, yesterday. Although the Guinness was quite good, nothing else was! The restrooms were disgustingly dirty and very smelly from lack of cleaning. We will not return to the Abbey Pub on future visits to Chicago.

Went to the abbey on way back from the Vatican City with my partner. The two irish barmen had a great greeting for us and from then on the craic and banter from the two of them was hilarious. We ordered food while watching the arsenal match and the food was fabulous. The barmen were so friendly you could tell... More

The Abbey has been around for awhile and you could usually count on a variety of Irish menu items, along with other pub menu items. Since, it was 1/2 price appetizers, we tried the Irish pub rolls. Just average, compared to some other Irish egg rolls that we have tried. They just didn't seem to have enough kick. We also... More

Drove 3 hours to see a band. The local crowd did not want the band to start. No stage lights because it would trip a switch. Ridiculous. The women's restroom had to close, though only 4 women in the whole place. We were in the Green Room not the large venue. It was run down, before and it appears to... More

I was looking for a good meal and pleasant atmosphere. The fish & chips I had were quite good, but the ambience would not entice me to make a return visit. Inside: very noisy -- even when there isn't a band playing. Outside: half-full ashtrays everywhere, sticky tables, blazing sun. And frankly, I'd rather not listen to foul language all... More

Good brew selection. Pizza dough is made on site. Instant mashed for the shep......was a little hard for me to take but.....they did taste good so i suppose that's all that matters. Pizza was very good, we actually got an extra to take back to our hotel. The service is very friendly. Nice pub, I would go again!
