Vosges Haute-Chocolat

For unique, specialty chocolats made in Chicago, they can't be beat by Belgium, or elsewhere. The owner studied how to make chocolat in various countries; she now combines wasabi in some, bacon in others. Also, Aztec hot chocolat is sold, but don't drink it like Montzuma or you won't be able to move.

We stopped by Vosges Haut Chocolat a little before closing. There are many choices and the staff was extremely helpful and encouraged us to step outside our comfort zone. I am so glad we did! The truffles were absolutely delicious. We also bought bars of chocolate to take with us. Those were also amazing. If you have time, stop by... More

This is clearly the best chocolate I have ever had! Being a chocolate lover I have had many kinds. This stuff makes Godiva taste aweful. It will ruin you for any other chocolate ever again! It is worth the high cost.

When in Chicago you must try these chocolates The exotic truffle collection is 32 pieces of truffles that are wonderfully unique. However, most of them are dark chocolates so make sure this is what you like.

My wife and I discovered Vosges about five years ago and have been spoiled since. I'd say it's our favorite (American) chocolate, comparable to the artisan chocolates you'll find in Europe. Their truffles are adventurous and daring with ingredients like fennel, paprika and violet petals. For two people who grew up in PA, Hershey's chocolate was the standard. And we... More

I live in Europe and was looking for a Chicago gift to take back. For the price I would rather have Lindt chocolate any day. All of the different flavours are more of a gimmick than anything. Very disappointed for the price. The only positive I can say is the packaging.....

Combinations geared toward shock value rather than good flavor, and 70% only cocoa content billed as "super dark" isn't really "haut" chocolate. Truffles are not good. Try Valrhona or Sharffenberger instead.

The candy is top quality, but for me the flavors were weird and expensive. Spent $300 and then gave them all away to the employees at the hotel we were staying. They seemed to like it so no accounting for taste. See website for list. http://www.vosgeschocolate.com/category/Vosges-Shop-by-Chocolate-Type

This is not your grandmother's chocolate box: if you want standard American chocolate (which I sometimes do!), try Godiva Chocolates. But if you want darker, bitterer European style, this is your huckleberry. They're doing all the modish things like salt and chocolate, but also curry, and other seasonally changing combinations.

Fresh made chocolate with only the best ingredients. During my visit I purchased a 1/2 pound of the toffee as a gift for my husband. It was so good that I ended up consuming most of it! In a word Delicious!

Neighborhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
