This store has closed, so don't waste your time checking it out. You should check out the Streeterville area. Great restaurants, access to the lake and beaches too!

Fox and Obel is a supermarket but they have a restaurant that overlooks the Chicago river. The food here is amazing!! Buy a bottle of wine at the store and bring it in to drink. Do not overlook this restaurant.

Cafe is good, with limited but tasty selections, the restaurant is a more pricey but service and food are quite good. The charcuterie and cheese in the market is also pricey but terrific with some hard to find choices. If you're staying at the W lakeshore, this is a five minute walk and a good breakfast or lunch choice.

Fox & Obel was once a fabulous lunch time venue with delicious soups and salads. But the cafe is now in serious decline. Shelves are not stocked, no waiters and food takes too long and not fresh. Not even sure if food is prepared there or brought in from elsewhere. The store as a whole seems in decline with most... More

Fox and Obel Market Cafe is set within a gourmet grocery store in downtown Chicago. It does not appear to be a great spot for dinner and we were skeptical as we arrived. But the restaurant is a beautiful setting along the river, the service was absolutely impeccable and the food choices were interesting and delicous. It is a quiet... More

This is exactly the kind of place I should love, but I didn't. I knew it would be spendy, but it was even more expensive than similar stores that I have near me, and had even less selection. Also, I went in 3x to possibly eat there, and each time the cafe part had a sign that read "closed for... More

In town for a convention and spend a part of the evening at Navy Pier so walking back to the hotel we happened upon this place. We weren't really hungry for a full dinner so we ventured in and what a find! Ended up with a bowl of soup and some delicious bread along with an old school Bubble UP... More

A lovely location and delicious food. It's a gem in the neighborhood! Not only did we enjoy a wonderful lunch by the river, but then we went and browsed in the gourmet market, which was a delight. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and the selection in the market was amazing. The cafe might not be the best fro... More
