One of the best Shrimp in Lobster Sauce you can find!

I love Chinese food and this place just made my Top 5 list for the country. The food was delicious, the venue was very scenic and the experience was pretty cool! I would highly recommend this place to others. I dined here with my wife and a relative who lives in the area. My wife and I ordered off... read more

We went with friends who have a young daughter. It was a bit late for dim sum but there were quite a few trolleys moving around. The ladies serving them were hardly articulate, even after realizing that my wife could speak to them in Cantonese. They gave you a second or two to make your decision and moved on quickly... More

The Dim Sum at the Phoenix restaurant is simply excellent - even by Hong Kong standards, e.g. the Luk Yu Tea House. While weekends are, as to be expected, rather... crunched {but still well worth it}, weekdays allows you to order your Dim Sum ala carte and the delivery was still expedient. Service was attentive and thorough - it's nice... More

We were really hoping for dim sum, but it was late Sunday evening, and they do not serve it then. However, we ordered potstickers, crispy duck, egg drop soup, sweet and sour chicken, and Szechuan fish. All were excellent. Far superior to typical Chinese fare in the Midwest. Service was good to excellent. Prices were very fair considering the quality.... More

This is my favorite dim sum in Chicago. This is as good as it gets for dim sum. The variety is excellent. All the usual dim sum items are there plus many more. The authenticity is A1. Service is super attentive. All attend to all the tables. We have only had dim sum here. It starts getting busy by 10:30am... More

Good food, nice atmosphere. We went with a party of three and ordered Dim sum. The only thing I would not get again is the coconut jello, as it made my stomach upset. Fried tarro is pretty awesome.

I am a frequent regular here. They have the best dim sum and chinese dinner. I'm chinese and each time I eat here it brings me back to my childhood with my family back in California. Dim sum is a must on the weekends. You have to try it all.

Great food! We had the opportunity to try several dishes. My husband's first experience with Dim Sum - he loved most of the dishes we tried.

Phoenix is a very good restaurant for authentic dim sum. We must've ordered 9 different dishes -- from classics like pork dumplings and shrimp dumplings to less popular dishes -- and 6-7 of 9 are as good as you'd find in a dim sum hall in Hong Kong. We were a party of 7 and the bill turned out to... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown may be one of Chicago’s smallest neighborhoods geographically, but it's big on character, colors, sights, sounds, and flavors. In this South Side neighborhood, you’ll find authentic Chinese restaurants dotting the length of Wentworth Avenue. After a meal of dim sum, noodles, duck or other tantalizing food specialties, satiate your visual appetite with dozens of public art sculptures sprinkled throughout the neighborhood ranging from animal structures to pagodas, a tile mosaic, Chinatown Gate, and a Buddhist Temple.
