I have been to Chef's Station several times over the past ten plus years. The food is always reliable, the staff is warm and welcoming without being intrusive or over-friendly. I met owner Peter Mills at an earlier visit and can say that this restaurant is a wonderful reflection of his sensibility of warmth, friendliness and enjoyment of a good... More

Chef's Station was my son Spencer's favorite when he was a student at Northwestern. We ate with him there then, and have gone back regularly on the occasional times we return to Evanston. On our most recent visit in early August, the service was first-rate, and the food special. I had the pea soup, the soup of the day, and... More

Finding Chef's Station was a bit of a challenge. Located under the tracks on Davis St. in Evanston you will find a hidden gem. The ambiance is great and the food and presentation match. It is a good special occasion restaurant. We did find it a bit on the expensive side. Three of us had the Char and found it... More

Chef's Station has been lapped. It's in a cool location, has a cozy, dimly-lit ambiance and uniformly delicious food. The only downside (and at this price point and in Evanston, not an inconsequential one) is the service. More specifically, it's the inconsistency of the service that undermines the kitchen's quality. The greeting was warm and our server clearly had good... More

The food was excellent our only dislike was the choices for bottles of wine was limited. But we liked what we ordered.

When next in downtown Evanston under the Metra tracks, enjoy an excellent upscale meal with delightful quiet, low light ambience literally located under railroad tracks without any shake, rattle or row or roll. Varied cuisine, the ladies enjoyed romaine or baby lettuce salads followed by the grilled salmon, while I enjoyed the hearty butternut squash soup followed by the veal... More

Dinner-and-a-movie takes on a whole new dimension when the dinner is at Chef's Station -- a fine dining establishment that is literally in the commuter rail station across the street from one of Chicago's nicer multi-screen movie complexes. The menu probably varies a lot over time -- it's the kind of place where your server will suggest what is best... More

Yep, this is the best restaurant that I have been to in Evanston! We loved the atmosphere. Service was perfect, attentive and friendly. Great appetizers. Loved the veal, lamb and a swordsteak. And, I felt the price was completely worth it! Will definitely come back.
