Happened upon this restaurant as I was visiting Evanston and decided to walk the neighborhood surrounding the hotel. It's tucked away under the Metra station. They had tables sitting outside and that was the only way that I knew it was there. Service was GREAT! I was offered seating, wine, water, and bread right away. I ordered the foie gras,... More

Chef's station is a gem, in range of some of the finest Chicago has to offer in a sophisticated environment with attentive service and excellent cuisine. As a bonus you can arrive on the Metra train.

I would like to be able to say better things about Chef's Station, but I can't justify high praise. The restaurant is a very comfortable space under the Davis street Metra station, with excellent chairs and wide spacing between tables, and good soundproofing (I didn't hear any train noises). Our server greeted us warmly, took drink orders and then was... More

Have eaten here before over the years and have always enjoyed the menu. Yew Years eve was a fixed five course meal that offered modest size but a lip smacking set of courses. Delightfully presented and served timely. A large wait staff made this a truly enjoyable meal.

I come to Evanston regularly for work from California and can't believe I have never found this place! Our group was trying to get into a different spot, but it was booked so I decided to give this restaurant a try after reading the food reviews on Tripadvisor. I have to concur with most of the reviews below…the decor is... More

I have been to Chef's Station several times over the past ten plus years. The food is always reliable, the staff is warm and welcoming without being intrusive or over-friendly. I met owner Peter Mills at an earlier visit and can say that this restaurant is a wonderful reflection of his sensibility of warmth, friendliness and enjoyment of a good... More

Chef's Station was my son Spencer's favorite when he was a student at Northwestern. We ate with him there then, and have gone back regularly on the occasional times we return to Evanston. On our most recent visit in early August, the service was first-rate, and the food special. I had the pea soup, the soup of the day, and... More

Finding Chef's Station was a bit of a challenge. Located under the tracks on Davis St. in Evanston you will find a hidden gem. The ambiance is great and the food and presentation match. It is a good special occasion restaurant. We did find it a bit on the expensive side. Three of us had the Char and found it... More
