Excellent location in Chicagos Old Town area, the hippest part of the city. Outstanding sushi in nice surroundings, topped with a very service minded staff.

We had dinner here last Saturday night at 7:30 pm and the food and service were excellent. My only regret is the restaurant was so loud in the dining area that I could barely here my friends at our table for 4 people. I've been in busy restaurants before were it was loud, but this was exceptionally loud in my... More

Another great FAMILY owned restaurant. The owners are there. Atmosphere is very classy, waitstaff sophisticated and attractive. Sushi is excellent and presented with artistic flair combining flowers, sculpture and creative plating. for desert: try Green tea Mochi ice cream this is is a Japanese confection made from mochi (pounded sticky rice) with an ice cream filling. Very GOOD! This is... More

Visited on a quiet Good Friday - upstairs one-third full. Decent sushi, certainly not ground breaking but service was extremely poor. Waited a half hour for drinks, more for appetisers. We were going to the theatre next door so when we got main meal had to wolf it down because it was so late. Almost missed the show and couldn't... More

I visited Kamehachi this past summer while living in Chicago for an internship. Not only was it delicious, but we were impressed by their achievement of such complex simplicity of their decor, food, and service style. It was absolutely wonderful in a surprisingly peaceful way, and I would recommend it to anyone in the area!

We haven't been to Kamehachi since they closed to main location downtown, so this was our first trip to the Wells Street location. It was worth the trip! The asparagus beef rolls and the tempura green beans were excellent! I had the salmon which was fantastic and my Queen had the sea bass and very much enjoyed it. The food... More

We almost walked right by Kamehachi, and were blown away when we stepped inside! The decor is so elegant and richly textured, yet very understated. Fabulous atmosphere. Our waitress, who sounded Eastern European, was knowledgeable and helpful. We had the goma ae, a dragon roll and their special double spider roll. All were exceptional. I loved the presentation on the... More

Very good flavor and great ambiance. The sushi menu for rolls is a little limited, but the ones we tried were good. The summer roll is quite spicy, and good. Unfortunately the special spicy tuna wasn't very spicy. The decor is very nice and service was good.

We found this restaurant by accident! We expected it to be a run of the mill Japanese restaurant but it superseded our expectations by a million miles. Everything was tasty and tasteful! The tuna sashimi was as smooth as butter, the shrimp tempura - well we could have eaten two of those dishes if we not decided that we had... More
