Ideally situated near Lincoln park zoo, we were feeling very hungry so headed over to r j grunts , was a good menu choice but had to have the burgers after reading some of the reviews on trip advisor , I chose the yowza burger with cottage fries whilst my other half had the better bacon cheddar burger with sweet... Great menu choice, nice and convenient for visiting Lincoln Park Zoo. Wraps are very good. Can get busy on the weekends.

We haven't been to Grunts in many years, and now I remember why. The sandwiches are all priced too high, and served with cottage fries that are way too greasy and either under cooked or too well done. I tried to substitute fries or veggies, but they charge an extra $1 for those. My chicken sandwich was served on a... More

This is a restaurant caught in a time warp with an inexplicable decorating scheme. The best I could find on the menu was choosing between a Patty Melt and chicken tenders. Maybe you could eat there on throwback Thursdays and partake of a salad bar that definitely feels old. But it was very popular. Plastic greenery tops windows and large... More

Very quaint restaurant. The pictures of the women on the wall are the waitresses since 1960. The salad bar was $14.95 but it was fresh, fresh, fresh. The music was a little bit loud but it was at least old music from the 1960s and maybe early 1970. The chocolate chip cream cheese dip on the salad bar with the... More

Recommended by a dear friend, our family of 4 visited R J Grunts for dinner. We ordered onion rings to start, which was delicious, and had our burgers. We ordered medium and med. rare, which were right on-thick and juicy patties. The burgers came with gooey blue cheese, lettuce, tomato and fried onion, what would go wrong with this combination?!... The location and feel of the place leads me to round up. Mostly just decent bar food-above average not great. Except for the burgers. Debatable if it's the right bun, but the burger itself was the other reason I rounded up to 4*. Some inconsistency w medium vs medium rare so be cautious of that. Overall, I'm happy we went.

Went to the Lincoln Park location on a Monday about 1:00 pm. Waited 35mins for a medium rare burger and a chicken wrap. Waiter named Sean didn't check on us at all during our wait. He was much too busy chatting with the table behind us. Wrap was cold and flavorless, burger was O.K. Bill was over $30. Music was... More

We went to RJ Grunts with two other couples before going on a boat cruise at Belmont Harbor. Since this is in the heart of Chicago near Lincoln Park Zoo parking is a nightmare. So we took advantage of the valet parking. This was convenient but cost us $13 including tip. The food was fantastic but the whole restaurant was... More
