4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2015 NEW

We popped in here with 4 kids and 3 adults and they packed us in tight. It's a small venue...not much wiggle room. But the prices and food were good. I had the fish and chips (fish great...chips decent) and my children had a cheeseburger (8oz and very thick hardly any cheese) and hot dog (boiled not grilled). The fries... More

We ended up here by accident and honestly initially only popped in because we were in need of a restroom but we opted to stay for a beer and thanks to our amazing bartenders that led to many more and we really enjoyed our time here. I can not attest to the food as we only ordered a basket of... More

R J Grunts is a great spot to stop on a visit to the zoo or a stroll through Lincoln Park. The restaurant is a casual eclectic space and walls are decorated with photos of the original waitresses.A wide variety of items on the meny but the highlights are the salad bar and the shakes. Good place for adults or... More

A wonderful place to get soup for the temperature outside! The salad bar is all you can eat. On Sunday, they have a breakfast buffet. Our kids had third servings... The restrooms are small and not to kid friendly. For restaurants around Lincoln Park Zoo, this rocks!

Went here on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm. We waited at the bar for about 20 minutes for the rest of our group and were seated within 10 minutes. Note that over course of our meal (1.5 hours) the restaurant became so crowded that navigating to the bathroom took a few minutes. The menu has a lot of offerings, and... More

Grunts not only has good food, generous servings, and pleasant servers, but it is also fun. Just reading the menu gives you a good laugh. Good food and laughter -- what could be better? Prices are reasonable, also. But you better make a reservation on the weekends as it is very popular.

Don't make me wait 1 hour and 50min (20min beyond time promised) for a burger with a mound of cold grated cheese on it, home-made chips of which half are greasy and chewy and a shake that is melted. We were also asked three times within the 45 min seated if they could clear our half eaten plates. I'm not... More

Excellent place for the solo bruncher. Options to combine main entree and buffet is a plus. You can get something starchy and sweet like french toast (they were a hit!), and get your proteins and salty (bacon, sausages, eggs) from buffet. The creamy tomato soup on buffet was a blast! Best option for a snowy autumn Sunday morning. Service is... More

While at Lincoln Park Zoo, we decided to head over to R.J. Grunts for lunch, and I'm glad I was hungry! I love the salad bar at this place, among the best anywhere. But it was a colder day so I really wanted a burger. I just had a regular cheeseburger, with sweet potato fries. The burger was cooked to... More

This place is so much fun, and has great food for people with any taste! The inside has fun decorations. It definitely is the opposite of a chain restaurant. There are many different types of burgers and wraps. The salad bar is great and has many options; it's my favorite. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that... More
