Nice restaurant for family and great outside patio cafe

Kids really enjoyed the pasta dish. Nice patio by the river. Great place to eat after exhausting your kids in the park across the street.

I was excited about trying Erie Cafe after reading the reviews. My experience was disappointing. Our server was not friendly, he never mentioned his name and got several of our salad orders wrong. We also had to remind him several times to get our drink orders. There were nine of us and most of us had the lamb chop special... More

Can eat inside or outside on terrace by river. Cannot speak to inside setting. Somewhat dark. Terrace by river, shaded by trees, and close to A Montgomery Park, is delightful. Barges, tour boats, and pleasure craft stream by. Set of steps lead directly from restaurant terrace down to the riverwalk along the north fork. Is on a quiet street without... More

This place is the best in the city of Chicago. I have been to Gibson's, David Burkes, Gene and Georgette's, and Ruth Chris but Erie Café is the best!!! I can not stop saying good things about this place and recommend it to anyone who comes to Chicago. Great service and fantastic food. The steaks are so juicy and so... More

We wanted to try local steak houses in Chicago and found this place on the internet. The steaks are hilariously HUGE, you need to take time (and dedication) to eat it all. For a European stomach I think it is even too big portion. The desserts were okay, I believe local people going there for the steak and friendly stuff.... More

This is the only place we go to on a regular basis. There are so many great places to eat in Chicago that we like to go to different places but the Erie is #1 on our hit parade and we will continue to go there once every trip.

The ambiance of the restaurant Is fantastic, with many pictures of the family with local celebrities, and the history provided by any of the staff that alone would make this a wonderful place. Let's not forget this is a restaurant, and the food is fantastic ! We had the streak which was melt in your mouth perfect! If you are... More

I have no words to explain how badly I wanted to like this place. I had heard pretty good things about this places "old world charm". Little did I know old world charm meant old world treatment. I made a reservation for 8:00 and after standing behind a few other couples I made it to the receptionist stand at about... More

The menu here is varied with Italian selection as well as steaks and seafood. The calamari is not breaded, so beware if you are a traditionalist. The restaurant puts you in mind of a true Italian eatery and the servers all seem to be Italian. The cheese ravioli with vodka cream sauce is great. Portions are large so beware. Prices... More
