This was the best dining experience. There were a few of us a the table, and after some discussion with our wonderful server, it was decided that we would have a chef's choice 5ish course meal with sake pairings. In the group, there were a variety of preferences and tastes, and they managed to accommodate everyone. The dishes were to... More

We had a few drinks at the bar first. Wonderful cocktails and great wine selection. We let our waiter, Scott, design a menu for us and we had a fabulous meal! He selected a few items for us from every section of the menu. The oyster/uni/foie gras and the Wagyu steak are must-haves!

Go early and have a cocktail on the terrace facing the river! This is only the start to a marvelous evening. Sushi chefs prepare their fare with perfect artistry in both flavor and presentation.

Grabbed a great seat at the small non sushi bar sat night and was treated nicely! The sauces that came with the wagyu steak that you sear table side yourself were incredible. The sushi was great!! Will return!!

We loved the original Japonais and was one of our favorites when visiting Chicago. The new restaurant does not have the same vibe or sophistication. Just seemed flat. The menu is more limited, however,we have to say our food was great... With all the options in Chgo we will no longer make Japonais a stop.

Went to Japonais expecting to get my favorites, namely the spicy mono, and instead I get nothing but the new morimoto salty yet bland flavors. What I appreciated about Japonais was exactly what the name implied - Japanese / French fusion. Not any more.

I was invited to a birthday dinner here and left hungry and a little prickly. The staff is as cold as the sushi. They were polite, but in a Stepford kind of way. The meal was delicious if you are a sushi lover, but in my opinion way too overpriced. No thank you.

Only a quick 10 minute taxi ride from (Amtrak) Union Station, Morimoto's was a perfect way to power lunch through mid-week, midday Chicago. The service was impeccable and the neo-Asian-fusion deco design of the sumptuous interior suitably complimented the culinary wonders thus presented. It was food as edible performance art. I spent several minutes staring at my order - fried... More

Went to Japonais by Morimoto as a group of 6 to celebrate 2 members of our party running the Chicago Marathon. We had reservations and were really looking forward to eating here. My husband and I have eaten at Morimoto in Napa twice and really enjoyed it! Had a cocktail and edamame in lounge downstairs then went to our table... More
