crowded but worth the wait

After arriving we had to wait for a while to get a table, well beyond what the staff had anticipated. But after being seated, everything went very well. If seafood is your thing, this is the place to go. Everything was fresh and delicious. Had the sea bass, it was excellent. Service was good and... read more

We had a great experience at Hugo's Frog Bar. The food was outstanding and the service was efficient and attentive. I'd recommend the salmon! Delicious!

Really good service and the food was perfect, I would definitly return :) However if it is your birthday you will receive cake and a loud salute, that scared the crap out of me, the first time I heard it :)

The food was delicious. I had the swordfish and my dinner partner had the halibut and both meals were cooked perfectly. The fish was moist and the side of sautéed spinach was tasty and full of flavor. We opted to skip dessert but it looked yummy. The service was good - with a waiter who smiled, was helpful and didn't... More

Stopped for dinner one night and what a place. The server was definitely on her game and was very attentive and explained everything very well. The portions were more than enough, especially the sides. The prices weren't bad, a bit higher than average but definitely worth it. If you're looking for a fun place that serves great food, this is... More

stopped by the bar for a snack and drinks. The bar tender was great and very helpful in selecting oysters. The selection was great and he recommended a sampler of the different kinds available. They were all very good and it was fun to compare the different styles. Overall a very good experience.

This is a great place to have a drink and socialize. There's a expansive selection of drinks and appetizers to please just about anyone. But the location is the major selilng point of Hugo's.

Where else can you enjoy food this good and hear live music, in an upbeat, casual atmosphere? This is a special place, with terrific service and great bartenders. Our favorites: The blackened salmon sandwich and the Holland Dover Sole.

Found this gem on Trip Advisor after trying to find a seafood place in the Naperville area. So glad we did. Located in the cute downtown Naperville area and fairly easy to get to off I-88. 0 to 15 minutes off I-88 and well worth it. Very reasonable for lunch (had lunch both times). The clam chowder and house salad... More

This was the second time we've been to Hugo's in the past six months and this time was a disappointment. Although the atmosphere is great, the decor classic seafood restaurant (i.e. large mounted fish on the walls, photos of light houses) and the service good, the food is not why you come here. I've had far better seafood at Shaw's... More

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
