The good and the bad

Started with the crab cake appetizer which was probably the best crab cake I've had. Ordered a bottle of wine which wasn't cold enough. Asked for ice for the ice bucket but they could only put cold water so it was a too warm bottle of wine. Salad was good. The lettuce was cold the way I like... read more

Our group of six had a great dinner experience at Hugo's! Three of us had steaks and the other three had seafood and everything tasted amazing. Special standouts included the clam chowder, the porterhouse and our server Tony F! My friend couldn't decide between scallops and medallions so he had the chef make her a combo of the two that... Great experience! Warning: don't order the Key Lime pie unless you are prepared to eat the tallest merengue topping in the world. It was faaaaaaaaaa-bulous!

My wife and I came to Hugo's Frog Bar to celebrate our anniversary-we chose Hugo's primarily based on reputation and affiliation with Gibson's. Our experience was average all the way around-from service to food quality to ambiance. Given the number of similar restaurants serving this type of food, our recommendation is to go elsewhere. Food: We started with oysters-they were... More

I eaten here several times, it is wonderful. The service is super, and the food is fresh and is well presented. Nothing not to like.

Great food and wonderful options. We had a great time with wonderful service and fun and different foods. Plus, fun cocktails make for a great night for a group. Definitely recommend for a nice fun night with a group!

Food quality was great! We made a reservation, but a table was open in the bar, so that's where we went. Live piano bar, and music was a little loud, even for my 18 year old daughter! It was a Friday night and in that part of town everyone wants to eat on the patio. If you do too, make... More

I was solo on Friday night, July 17, awaiting my Saturday flight out. My bellman at JW Marriot recommended Gibson's on Rush Street. I couldn't find a seat in the bar so I tried Hugo's right next store, which is basically an extension of Gibson's. I found a table perfectly located for people watching in the bar and observing the... More

Was in Chicago for work and had been here previously several years ago. Decided to stop by and so glad that I did. Had a great dinner and a wonderful (and very large) desert. I was stuffed after dinner.

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
