Had dinner with 6 friends who had never been there - had a wonderful experience. Menu is fantastic - great combinations of spices and flavors - very memorable. Dined on a Saturday night - restaurant was completely full and the tables are fairly close together, but we never felt it was overly noisy like many others. We all loved it... More

What an amazing location and restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the scallop salad as an appetizer and the #49 with the beef. My partner had the vegetarian spring rolls and the #49 with tofu. Both of us ate our entire plate, and walked away stuffed but very happy. This place has a separate vegan menu which is... More

Stopped by Le Colonial for lunch...no reservations but they accommodated us without fanfare. The server was outstanding! Made recommendations that were perfect...wrapped shrimp...fabulous thin glass like noodles...a chicken and curry dish...topped off by a fabulous dessert...macaroon with chocolate sauce and ice cream Not inexpensive...with tip about $100 for the three of us..no wine...essentially two entrees and three appetizers. Cant wait... More

My third vist here left me disappointed after previous very nice experiences. I had a reservation and was the first customer to arrive to an empty restaurant, yet they tried to seat me at an undesirable location when there were many nicer tables. I got my way by rejecting the first table. This was after they couldn't locate my reservation... More

The first couple of times we visited Chicago and ate here is was SOOOO good, we were moaning. This time I felt it was a lot of money for okay food. The service was good, attentive and fast. But the food is not what it used to be.

Whenever we are in Chicago we make sure to have dinner at Le Colonial, we've been going here for years and never get tired or it. The menu offers numerous choices and the food is always good. The atmosphere is really good and the staff is very efficient and friendly. We've never had a bad experience here.

This place has been around for ever and I continue to visit over the past 15 years. The Pho is a great light meal and reasonably priced. Drinks are great. Atmosphere is unique and takes you back to another time and place whether it be the hottest of summer days or the coldest of winter nights. The staff are courteous... More

My husband and I periodically dine at Le Colonial. Our recent visit stood out from the others. The menu had a variety of offerings making it difficult to chose just one. The food was very tasty and a larger portion was provided on this visit. Service, as always, was impeccable. Finally, the atmosphere was quite romantic - perfect for a... More

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
