A Charming Place

I've been to France several times, and Bistrot Zinc offers an authentic French experience for a reasonable (but not cheap) price. The atmosphere is chic but casual and the service is top notch-like in France, the waitstaff lets you take your time, which is a real treat. Definitely worth a visit.

The food was excellent. Service was prompt and attentive. Not a long line on a Friday night. Perfect creme brulee. This place was a great find. Note to other Trip Advisor reviewers... if you need to complain about not getting separate checks... go to the Olive Garden next time.

I love this restaurant. I'm surprised by some of the less than favorable reviews. My husband and I visit this restaurant every New Years Eve for a wonderful dinner, and then walk down to Buckingham Fountain to watch the fireworks. This place has never disappointed me. The food here is great - I tried escargot for the first time here... More

I have lived in chicago for 6 years an I have been at BZ more than few times. It has alway been great. Both the food and the service. I am a bit surprised about the other people writing bad stories. I even had my going away party for over 30 people and loved it. I must admit, I haven't... More

After making a reservation 3 days in advance we still got the worst table in the house by the kitchen's swinging door. My husband's appetizer was inedible. The "baked" Brie was ice-cold. At 7 pm they were already out of the dish I ordered. The four of us wished to split the order cheque 2x2. We were told that house... More

We ate here before when we visit and found the food OK, atmosphere great. This time it could not have been worse. They were out of coq au vin at 7:00 on a Friday night! The food we ordered poorly prepared. The service horrible. We made reservation several days in advance and sat at the back by the kitchen and... More

After reading all the reviews, I thought we'd be in for bad service and mediocre food - but that wasn't the case. Staff couldn't have been nicer (around 8:30 pm on a Thursday eve) and the food was quite decent. Stick to the basics and you'll find food satisfying and nicely presented. Ambiance is really nice and the crowd clearly... More

I don't usually go to the bother to write a restaurant review, but this one got my dander up, so I will do so. This one was recommended as being a good place for salads I think it was. Anyway, I was received poorly, and put way back near the kitchen door (in a large restaurant that had only a... More

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
