A one time event!

This is my second visit in six months, but in July, unknown to me, they changed to a tasting menu only. We all ordered the smaller 7 course menu at $95. The food was very tasty, but small portions. Wine as other reviews said was way overpriced. Still a beautiful room with great views, and... read more

Note that this review was based on the a la carte menu that is no longer available at this restaurant. It was a great dining experience, and there was nothing really to find fault in. The food was awesome, and service matched it equally without being obtrusive or contrived! Each plate arrived beautifully, and the detail to each component was... More

This review concerns Spiagga's Cafe, which serves lunch and adjoins its more formal sister restaurant, which opens for dinner. We arrived a bit after 1:00 pm. The restaurant was virtually empty, but the host offered us a small table just inside the entrance that provided a dismal view of the building canopy below. I requested and was given a better... Limited expensive menu. Definitely for Foodies. View is beautiful. Kind of like appearing as taster on an episode of Top Chef. Great fun but pricey!

Tony, what were you thinking? Help me understand why you'd take a wonderful a la carte Italian restaurant and turn it into an over priced culinary experience, featuring an incomprehensible "prezzo fisso" (fixed price) menu. Had we only known... Well, actually, we walked. Two reasons. I like to choose what I eat, and in order to do that, I need... More

Fantastic! The tasting menu was superb. I am a vegetarian with some other dietary restrictions and they had no problem accommodating me. The service was top notch as well. Will definitely return!

Excellent food and perfect service. The price was extremely high, probably too high for even the best food in Chicago. Having said that a wonderful and experience and the best meal we had in Chicago by far.

The wines are way overpriced. The menu only offers a fixed price tasting menu. While most of the courses were excellent I'd prefer to have the usual a la carte menu so I can select what I want to eat rather than what the chef wants me to eat

We had dinner there a few nights ago. Apparently they recently changed their menu as we were offered a choice of the main restaurant with the tasting menu or the café with an ala carte menu. We chose the tasting menu in the restaurant. The décor in the restaurant is very nice with a wonderful view of the lake. My... More
