Description: As the more casual sibling of renowned Spiaggia, Cafe Spiaggia has come into its own as a favorite dining destination for locals and visitors alike. In an artful, warm setting featuring reproductions of 15th century Italian murals, the contemporary Cafe serves dishes reminiscent of authentic Italian sidewalk eateries and trattorias. Chicago Magazine said, “This stylish Cafe sends out lively versions of regional classics…topnotch handmade pastas, fine main courses, and the best tiramisu and ice creams in town.

We had dined at Spiaggia on several occasions before its recent renovation--it's a great place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and other special events--so, even though it's the priciest five-star restaurant this side of the Inn at Little Washington (our favorite dining spot in all the world), we wanted to sample the new surroundings. Hey, try it. You'll love it. The... More

It's no secret that Spiaggia is, and has been, a cornerstone of culinary movement and innovation here in the States and beyond but with their recent renovation, revamp and reopening I felt compelled to log on and write a quick review. The new space is just sublime. With a new bar and lounge added it pulls you in an inviting,... More

Very expensive, know that much up front. Our tab averaged between $150 and $200 per person. Very inventive takes on Italian food, beautiful to look at, but most importantly, every bite was fabulous. Pops of incredible intense flavors. Every item on every plate was there for a reason, to add to the flavor, texture and balance. Portions are not huge... More

We were visiting Chicago for only a few days, and Spiaggia was highly recommended. We had the eight-course tasting menu; of all we have had over the years, this one was the best. From the generous lobster portion to the dessert tray, it was fantastic. Not only brilliantly presented, the food tasted great. The foie gras ravioli with uni mousse... More

This is the one restaurant I always go to in Chicago. Great service and food. Attentive but never intrusive. Expensive but more then worth it. Only the finest ingredients used. The menu could be larger. The best scallop I ever had.

If you have an unlimited budget and want to be dazzled by all means go. The service is excellent and the view is wonderful. The food is outstanding too but you are paying for the razzle-dazzle. (My $25 appetizer consisted of one, yes one, scallop on a dollop of fois gras and some truffle foam.) Scrumptious food, beautifully presented just... More

This restaurant is excellent and ranks as highly as any we've tried around the world. The wine pairing with the meal was outstanding with interesting varietals from mainly northern Italy. The highlight however was the pasta course, with espresso flavoured mash potato, which we thought was better than the Joel Robuchon famous buttery variety. Well done Chris Marchino - great... More

Went for dinner 6/10/14, The attention of the serving staff was wonderful, but the quality of the food was terrible. Not 100%, but how can you tell at these prices. The waiter seemed to understand because he mentioned the meat purveyor had caused problems. The chef certainly should have known a bad piece of meat before he prepared it.

What a fantastic spot. You are getting fine dining Italian and it was a special meal. From the minute we got there, we were treated amazingly well and the food matched the service. Cannot wait to get back and enjoy it again and it is a staple for each trip to Chicago.

We had a very nice business dinner at Spiaggia. The service was outstanding and the food excellent for a set dinner. The passed appetizers were terrific. I don't know the value because I didn't see the final bill.
