We ate here twice for breakfast over labor day, while staying at the Sofitel. We have eaten here nearly every time we visit Chicago. The saddest part about the whole thing is I booked the Bed and Breakfast combo as with my previous visits here we absolutely loved the pastries and breakfast- it was almost like being in Paris. Unfortunately... More

Staying at the Sofitel, you will not be compromising by also dining at the restaurant! The fresh butter and French pastries were excellent (as well as the imported jams).

On the first floor of the Sofitel in Chicago's Gold Coast. Service was good, but first floor location right by registration desk wasn't a great setting. Food was fine - olive tapenade was tasty, chicken pasta was all right and portion was plentiful. It was not a busy night and I was dining alone. Really appreciated the gratis tower of... More

We wanted outdoor dining and well prepared fish. We scored with the Arctic char: well presented and prepared. The tuna and octopus Nicoise was deconstructed and delicious. The smoked beet salad was mediocre. We enjoyed the setting on a perfect summer day and the low noise level made conversation easy. We will definitely return.

Went on a week night and was extremely slow. Service was quite attentive and efficient. Cheese platter was okay. The pork belly was tasty but nothing to sing praises about. My wife had the oysters which she seemed to like. The halibut was chewy, overall okay. The beef tenderloin was cooked wonderfully and tasted great. The accompaniments were not very... More

This restaurant is inside the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower Hotel, but with an outdoor seating area as well on chestnut Street. The restaurant offers a wide selection on its breakfast menu and unique french pastry. I particularly like their omelets and pastries a lot. Service was very good as well.

Le restaurant est excellent. We sat outside on a cool summer evening. You won't be disappointed. Some friends joined us for the evening, we were not rushed, we were served beautifully. Good wine selection. It was very enjoyable.

We got married at the Sofitel Water Tower 6 years ago, choosing the hotel in large part because of the food. Every year since, we've celebrated our anniversary at Cafe des Architects, the hotel's restaurant. Each year's meal has been great, but the past couple years since Greg Biggers took over the kitchen has been especially wonderful. The food is... More

We had high expectations for this. We stayed at the hotel for 7 days and wanted to try the breakfast. We stood in line with 8 other people for 30 minutes before seated. There were lots of open seats, but everyone was running around putting up flowers, straightening the decor, making everything look pretty. When we finally sat down, we... More
